The Senate on Wednesday voted almost entirely along party lines to acquit President Donald Trump on abuse of power and obstruction of justice. In a dramatic speech on the Senate floor, Republican Mitt Romney of Utah said he would vote to convict President Trump on the first of two articles of impeachment. Aired on 2/5/20.

The framers made presidential impeachment difficult, specifically so that it could not be used as a partisan weapon to overturn an election. That’s why you need a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate to win a conviction. There has to be overwhelming agreement that the President had engaged in activity, so reprehensible, it was worthy of his removal. The Dems’ charges for impeachment were ‘Trumped’ up, fabricated, politically driven, weak.

As a Canadian, I hate hearing that anyone can have a trial without witnesses, and that jurors decided the verdict before even sitting down. Disgraceful to the Justice system in general, but even worse for the people who are being cheated out of their democracy.
