Interesting that the GOP is marketing this as “Dems trying to overturn will of voters”…. correct me if i wrong but 2 of the last 3 terms served by a GOP POTUS have been ostensibly against the will of the voters since they lost the popular vote. Trump himself lost the popular vote by like 3 million votes…. it’s takes a seriously warped view to assert that stance out of all the other defenses they could try.
I remember when Trump first took office Republicans wouldn’t stfu about “The will of the people!”, “THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE!”, then when people reminded them Trump lost the popular vote they started saying “Well, that’s so New York and California don’t decide the presidency all the time…”. Suddenly, the will of the people no longer mattered. They also stole all those absentee ballots in North Carolina in 2018 while accusing Democrats of cheating during elections. They also don’t want to do anything about Gerrymandering. Republicans are very dishonest people who just say whatever is convenient for them at the time. They’re literally thieves and scam artists practicing “The art of the deal” they learned from Trump

There are very good reasons we use the Electoral College instead of the popular vote.
The Founders placed articles of impeachment in the Constitution for the purpose of protecting our democracy and our liberties from would-be dictators. It’s almost as if the Founders were clairvoyant, and had envisioned someone like Trump in America’s future. Someone who has no respect for democracy or America’s Constitution, and who is clearly trying to tear them both apart.
Trump took money that did not belong to him, taxpayer money, that was appropriated by Congress, our legislative branch of government, and used it to bribe another country for his own personal benefit.
This fact has been corroborated by the whistleblower, by official documents, texts messages, by the under oath testimony of multiple witnesses, by Trump’s own senior white house aides and staff, by Mulvaney, and by State Department officials, and by Trump’s own words. Trump’s own National Security Adviser Bolton quit over Trump’s scheme to bribe Ukraine.
Article II, Section 4, says the president “shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.”
So shall it be written, so shall it be done.
