Steven Spainhouer, one of the first responders to the scene after a gunman opened fire at an Allen, Texas, outlet mall, speaks out about what he saw when he arrived. Eight people were killed and at least seven others were wounded, according to local officials. Spainhouer rushed to the mall before police arrived and jumped in to help victims after learning his son was working at the shopping center during the time of the shooting. #CNN #News

Mr. Spainhouer is an incredible man, and for what he witnessed will stay with him for a very long time. His son did the right thing and saved lives. My heart hurts, for the families who have lost loved ones and those who were injured.
He’s going to need to get a Therapist asap. That’s some serious trauma to witness

He’s also a hero for pointing out that there’s no fix for mental health issues. These tragedies call for a more actionable plan than thoughts and prayers. Sadly I think these shootings will continue to increase.

There will always be mental health issues for which many people do not seek any help or perhaps they feel the way they do because of their background. Guns do not kill the people using the guns.

I”m so sorry for what he had to endure – it had to be traumatizing. I am grateful for his thoughts on gun reform. We need more people like him who own guns speaking out about the need for restrictions so we all can be safe.

I feel for that man, he will never be the same. And grateful that people like him step up. I hope all first responders, regardless of law enforcement, emergency services or civilian, get access to whatever support they need.

I know I am only one of many millions of Amercans who care about what you went through and are grateful for your efforts. I was once on the scene of a very serious accident. We can’t unsee or undo the trauma we’ve seen or been through, but we can listen to it’s lessons and learn to let it go. Willie Nelson said it well – it’s not something you get over, but it’s something you get through.

A true hero, such a kind hearted man that jumped into action when he saw people needing help. It must have been traumatizing to him to see the victims that didnāt make it, but he remained focused on helping that little boy.
