Republican megadonor Harlan Crow has claimed Justice Thomas never asked for any of the “hospitality gifts” provided to him. But, whether Thomas asked for annual gifts, worth hundreds of thousands, or not, he still failed to declare them and the proceeds from the sale of several properties.
However, it begs the question if said gifts were as innocent as suggested why continually and actively make an effort to hide them. Thomas’ own actions, or rather lack of, substantiate an awareness on his part that the gifts, he never asked for, are not as innocent as he’s undoubtedly hoping will be believed.
What should be a greater priority is that a Justice of the highest court in the land has displayed considerable dishonesty over decades, in both what he does and how he does it. How is it reasonable for him to hold a position judging others.?
Its questionable how anyone might now think Thomas,’ or anyone else’s, personal choices wouldn’t affect how they do their job. It is inevitable that everything we do, whether personal or professional, will always affect everything else. And, now the public perception that Thomas lacks good judgement and honesty will always bring into question the decisions he makes as a Justice.
Thomas’ wife’s activities leading to January 6 or himself being viewed as “key,” by Trump lawyers, in delaying Congress’ certification of Biden’s victory in 2020, and extreme luxury vacations provided by a Republican mega donor can’t not perpetuate an awareness that Thomas can be bought.
Can it really be okay for a Justice on the highest court in the nation to be thought as potentially untrustworthy at any time for any reason. Now, current reports about Thomas virtually guarantee an even bigger discussion that includes Anita Hill’s 1991 testimony regarding previous questionable actions.
An asterisks next to the name of a Supreme Court Justice highlighting accusations of sexual harassment and millions of dollars in “hospitality” gifts is forever a part of the nation’s history. Thomas has really only ever faced questions of whether he did or didn’t do something but maybe now, given his position, actual consequences for his dishonesty should be considered.
** “Hospitality gifts” is undoubtedly how Thomas’ presence will be described when said gifts are claimed as a business expense against Crow’s taxes.

This judge knows EXACTLY what he’s doing. It’s not “kind of” pathetic, it IS pathetic AND illegal. How is it that a judge sitting on the top court can skirt laws on real estate property, not report $$$$ in gifts and still say he is a moral authority or anything NEAR that? He’s a crook in my book and needs to step down.
