One worker was dead and four required hospitalization Tuesday after a parking garage collapsed in lower Manhattan's Financial District, toppling cars over each other as concrete floors fell and left other vehicles teetering on the unstable roof.
Mayor Eric Adams confirmed the fatality and said the building had been rendered "completely unstable.'' Officials said one worker was trapped on an upper floor and rescued via a neighboring roof.
The building was “all the way pancaked, collapsed all the way to the cellar floor,” Acting Buildings Commissioner Kazimir Vilenchik said.
There were six workers in the three-story building on Ann Street when it collapsed and four were hospitalized in stable condition with injuries, said John Esposito, chief of operations for the Fire Department of New York. He also confirmed the death and said another injured person declined medical attention.

I’m praying for anyone that’s been affected by this 😞
🙏 I hope no one else is hurt. I can’t help but think about the job my husband had. He worked for the city of Minneapolis, MN in the city’s municipal ramps restoration and repair department. He did power washing, jackhammering, cleaning out their drains (his least favorite job), painting and what they called crack chasing (cleaning out and filling any cracks in the concrete). He enjoyed his job until the pain got to be too much for him. He ended up on disability in 2010 and I lost him to a stroke late last year.
The most important thing that should be on everyone mind currently should be how to invest in different sources of income that doesn’t depend on the government. Especially with the current economic crisis around the world 🌍. This is still a good time to invest in various stocks gold, silver and digital currencies

Yeah, we had that just happen at a suburban Milwaukee mall parking garage a few months ago. Heavy snow caved-in a section of the garage floor. Thankfully, nobody was killed, nor even hurt there. But, I’m sure a lot of people were filing claims with their auto insurances. Even cars that weren’t damaged up there may still be stuck up there with no way out yet. I haven’t heard anything about it now for a while.
