I still love Bill Nye. I could listen to that man speak about science all day.
Lol
All I know is that the ‘known Universe’ is far, far greater than any possible imagination I could have.
I love you Bill Nye
Omg I thought he RIP-ed on us, lol
Next: Explain that a ‘Parsec’ is not a unit of time – That one is more often botched than the lightyear, not least thanks to one George Lucas (or whoever wrote the Kessel run anecdote) 😅
It isn’t a mistake.
For the original Star Wars, Lucas attributed the speed of the Millennium Falcon to the fact that its navigation computer could calculate the shortest safest routes for hyperspace, hence the parsecs line.
The novels however retconned the line to mean that it was how close you could get to a black hole in the Kessel run, hence the distance.
Damn I love this dude!
Fun fact, in one second light travels almost 1 Trillion feet!
Another fun fact: Light travels one foot in a nanosecond.
Bill Nye should save his breath trying to explain “light years” to a population that isn’t very bright.
I think I see a Fannie Farmer cook book???
And I still can’t wrap my brain around just how fascinating this is!! Our universe is so vast & incomprehensible! 😍
186,000 miles per second… not miles per hour.
I caught that too. looked at the comments to see if anyone else tracked that lol.
Thank you… It’s always good to learn something..be well to all
They need to bring back Bill Nye the Science Guy 2023 edition show
186,000 miles per SECOND, not hour
I caught that too
I mean I’m sure saying this over and over again all the years he has that it’s easy to misspeak a fact
Just like electricity….same speed.
@john smith Not electricity… EM wave propagation.
I think photons never move anywhere they are all present everywhere there may be some another enery or radiation which illuminate them in a particular direction.
His head is freakishly huge next to that train!
This guy would probably be good on his own TV show
Loool uhm he did have his own show
@n?a r/whoooossshhh
Photons are my favorite form of energy
It going really really fast is not a good reason as to why, lol.
Are you going to do this with baking soda and vinegar bill?
