Wow he came in pretty hot . A pilot once told me any landing is a good landing when you can walk away from it.
For not having much forward thrust he landed that plane pretty good
Hi Murray, for Bonanza that’s not very hot at all matter of fact he came in too slow. What really destroyed his landing was he decided to put the landing gear down right before touchdown and that created more drag and that really made him drop like a stone yep he blew it but he lived I’m sure he had shoulder harness belts because if he hadn’t he probably would have been killed as at airplane stopped almost immediately thus creating a very nasty forward momentum of the documents, again with that shoulder harness belts it would be a different story.
He was doing okay for a belly landing maybe a bit slow but then when he put the gear down that created all kinds of drag and he dropped out of the sky like a stone. His best bet was to fly the approach a little faster with The gear up then stop the engine at around 100 ft so is not to damage the prop or the engine that should have been how this off airport landing happened.
