If there was election reform like Trudeau promised 4 years ago there wouldn’t be such a lack of western representation in the government seats.
Yeah, and the Tories blocked all election Reform because it would guarantee Lib/NDP rule forever. Duh, first past the post is the ONLY way the Tories can get power, they won’t give it up.
@Art Dent Trudeau only wanted ranked ballots as he thought that was the way to ensure Liberal majorities. Other parties wanted seats given out with proportional representation and that was what the committee recommended. Trudeau dropped the whole idea when he didn’t get what he wanted.
@Art Dent The Tories are really bad at government, they never saw an economy they couldn’t run into the ground.For most of the last 50 years or so the Tories have run the Alberta economy into the ground,Once Peter Lougheed got out of the way, the Tories spent and spent on there corporate buddies ,bring an end to the Heritage Fund. Unlike Norway who saved, in the same period ,over a trillion dollars Tories couldn’t make money or protect the economy if their lives depended on it and of course it’s everyone else’s fault that they suck.
@Mike Campbell, I watched those committee hearings, it was Tory insistence on a referendum that killed it, though there was obviously a split on the form it would take as you describe. But once the Tories demanded a referendum the debate ended, no way the Libs were touching that after the referendum on Quebec Seperation, referendum is still a dirty word for the Libs.

Well if that interviewer could tone down his interrupting and let the Manitoba Premier speak that would have been more productive. If eastern Canadians really want to hear how the west is thinking let our representatives answer without interrupting or trying to move on to another topic.
