If Germany had been pushing harder for green energy, they would be a lot better off right now.
Absolutely. And this has less to do with energy than it has to do with Germany swearing allegiance with US imperialism and our proxy war with Russia.
was not possible under 16 years of merkel
@Bert Nijhof All _electricity_ not all energy. Still quite a ways to go. Greetings from Germany.
So true! It was our conservatives (CDU and FDP) who put the brakes on!
Yes! Yes! Yes! 🤣 Let’s continue to mine for lithium and rare earths, even though they’re so environmentally destructive. Let’s put those “impossible to recycle” windmills into the ground after about 20 years of usage. Remember, you’ll still need to burn petrol to transport, process, and produce those “green energy” producers. 🤣
Good for Germany.
Maybe they should’ve started five years ago when Trump told them to get off Russian energy, instead they laughed
Remember when Trump said Germany was becoming reliant on Russia for energy and everyone laughed? As usual, The Trumpster was right and the lefties were wrong,Scooter boi.
u wrong david j
Great news no dependency on Russia by all of Europe is the way to go….glad that the US and the European allies are giving this looney in Russia and his drunken soldiers a hard time….
Why did they laugh at trump when he told them to do this 5 years ago???
Lol all of Europe has increased imports from Russia.
Yes, instead of getting fuel from a pipeline a few hundred kilometers long, Hungary can wait for Norway to develop the capacity to receive LNG on boat from across the Atlantic and then ship that LNG from a terminal in Norway all the way around Western Europe, through the Mediterranean, into Greece or Bulgaria and then they can ship that LNG over land by truck or through another pipeline. Perfect solution, Russia is doomed!
@Fletcher Reed Because Trump is a clown. That he accidentally repeated something reasonable doesn’t change that fact.
As the EU economy collapses and 100 Ukrainians die a day. 👍
Dumbasses.
LNG takes 60 times less space than NG.
What has not been said here is that Germany will also use the terminals for hydrogen if gas is no longer needed later.
hydrogen ? from where ? Do you know the disastrous energy efficiency of H2 ? Do you think H2 temp is the same as CH4 ? Really ? H2 will only be used in heavy industries but will never be used as a gas and be transported. Efficiency would be disastrous.
@eric marie Well, there lately has been a lot of progress in new, much more effctive power-to-gas technology. You can also mix something like (if I remember correctly) 20-30 % of H2 into the natural gas pipelines without much issues for the customers. The are also researching such possibilities right now. But you are right, power to gas only makes sense, if you have a surplus of (renewable) electricity, and we are very far away from that. We will need it all for electric vehicles, replacing coal etc. But solar panels/wind turbines in coutries near to the equator for H2 export would be a good possibility in the future.
@N. K. Major pb is that solar will not work either. Solar panel have a far too low albedo and efficiency meaning your increase temp atmos more than it would with carbon. If we use sahara we’ll change very hight albedo with low albedo. That would be worse because with 18% efficiency, 82% of solar energy will be heat. People present diff options they don’t make the balance , they only calculate one way. Same for wind turbine and solar, to collect few energy on big surface, you need big invest. But we’ll not have enough copper for that. Today we make silicium with coal, Are you sure will make silicium on a continuous process with…solar ? Turning the fossile world for an electric world will lead too a copper shortage very very soon. The only way is too reduce world energy by 4 or 5 , meaning to reduce standard of living by 4. Ex : An electric car cut the footprint by 2 (if not an electric tank) but we have to divide by 5 the carbon footprint. So, We’ll have to divide by 2.5 the number of cars in the same time. We’ll have to do everything at the same time, solar, wind and cutting our life style by 2 or 3. Same for heating in houses, the most efficient way to cut carbon footprint is to cut by 2 the average surface for one personn. You save concrete, steel and heating. then you isolate and warm less and then you can get 2*2 that will make total divided by 4. Nobody is able today to find a way to have the same life style with no carbon. It has to be divided by 2 or 3 even with nuclear everywhere.
@eric marie We already generate 48% of our electricity from renewables. But, please, keep telling us what’s not possible! 😛
@eric marie You dont seem that informed on the topic… No offence.
Perhaps you should do some research before you comment on it 🙂
In the meantime, the Russians are “secretly” trying to repair Nordstream 2 … was written here in a german newspaper a few days ago 😂
Haha Russia can’t even win economic war against a country which was dependent on their energy.
This will not be possible at all. You would have to replace everything. Gas pipelines have a sensitive inner coating because of the high pressure during use. They must therefore also be cleaned frequently, as deposits create eddies. The salt water has long since destroyed this inner coating. Whether Russia is technically capable of doing this? I don’t think so, and it’s uneconomical anyway. Moreover, it would be blown up again. It is doubtful that Germany or any other European country will become a Russian customer again. Trust is urgently needed for contracts.
Don’t forget that in 2022 Germany reached a new record with respect to the use of renewable energy. In total 45% of German’s energy was coming from renewables like wind mills, solar power, hydro power, etc.
@Synura nah, buddy. germany is still buying nuclear, coal and gas produced electricity from neighbour countries. Yes they also sell electricity just as they build new and reopen old coal power plants. In Whole of the europe only denmark has significant % of renewables as source. But then again, Denmark does not have any serious industry to feed.
LOL. What a fake fact
@vrhb The same nuclear power-plants that now suffer from a lack of water for cooling?
It’s 45% (I think actually 48% now) of _electricity_ – still lots of fossil fuel consumption for other things.
Dont forget: OIL is not the only thing humans need to wean themselves from. 90% of idiotic “adults” STILL nurse and suckle mommy cows for baby’s milk. Normal & Natural WEANING in humans = 2.5 years. Let that sink in.
Awesome Germany, hold on , you are already almost there.
They’re helping rebuild the Northstream pipeline!!😂 yeah almost there😂. Maybe they should’ve listen to trump five years ago when they laughed at him for saying to get off the Russian teet
@Fletcher Reed We still laugh at Trump🤡, as we do at most Reps and a few Dems
I am an ordinary Ukrainian, but on behalf of all my people I want to thank the US government and all Americans for helping my country! 🇺🇦 Thank you guys for the weapons, financial and humanitarian assistance! We really appreciate your support and will never forget.❤️
God bless America! 🙏🇺🇸
@Stefan Weilhartner you think you are smarter than Frau Angela Merkel? You forget that Russia is a nuclear power. NATO thought that they could win because they are more powerful. Now they are not so sure because of China factor. China stays quiet now but Germany and France all know the power of China. China has the Baidu satellite navigation system, the most advanced in the world versus the US GPS system which is more than 35 yrs old and have many many satellite problems (Check the US Coast Guard website). China also has numerous spy satellites watching. Russia didn’t have those spy satellites and poor millitary information system. NATO knows that. China GDP is larger than EU, the entire 26 countries combined. You don’t want to fool around with the Giant. Russian GDP is about the same as South Korea. NATO can despise Russia, but not CHINA. Just remember the China factor. NATO can’t do whatever they want. That’s as simple as that. And that’s why Ukraine can’t win.
@Hari Soepangkat at least i don’t need insults to feel superior.
@Stefan Weilhartner There is no need to talk to some idiots that didn’t know that Galileo satellite system shut down for 2 months without any reason and still claimed that it was perfect and are ignorant that Galileo system needs 20 more satellites to make it competitive with GPS or Baidu. As for power play and goepolitics, you never know those names such as Henry Kissinger, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Prof John Mearsheimer, Jeffrey Sachs. You will never understand why Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Olaf Scholz called President Xi JinPing recently to talk about Ukraine-Russia war. Only idiots like Annalena Bärbock who is nothing but an American poodle would definitely your best fit.
We love you Germany! 😊 🇺🇸🇩🇪❤️
😠 Fuk RikodiusRex what you saying here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdWZeLa9aeg

We love you too, America! Protect that democracy. 👍🇺🇸🇩🇪
Germany really needs to protect all those LNG sites.
If Russia are stupid enough to attack them, that is an attack on NATO and Russia will find themselves at direct war with NATO.
I very much doubt that Russia want that.
This such Great News. Amazing
It is time for good people of the world to stop farting around and put a 500%+ tariff on ALL dictatorships. Free trade should only be with free people. All democracies must join together in a free-trade union to finally make all governments accountable to their people by taking the profit out of oppression. Discounts can be given to encourage improvements, but we must be consistent. Domestic tax reductions and rebates will make this tariff cost the consumer nothing. No excuse not to start now.
As a German let me say this: Gas prices up 300%, fuel prices up 50%, electricity prices up 200%, inflation at around 7-10%. Yeah, we’re doing just fine 🤡
Tom L, the price of freedom doesn’t come cheap mein herr! The alternative if you want really cheap energy is dissolving the German constitution and asking Moscow to become your new rulers! Half of your country was once ruled by Moscow so the transition back shouldn’t be that difficult?
@Norman whitlock ….”Half of your country was once ruled by Moscow”…..17 million people of 82 million people are not the half.
It wasn’t even “half” territorially!
The newscaster on the left has a really interesting speech patterns
Quest should stick to airline travel topics. All this talking, and the explanation he was after never occurred. The advantage and purpose of the floating LNG distribution terminals is that they avoid clogging up ports where a line of LNG tankers currently need to be continuously lined up offloading their gas to the distribution main lines. This clogs the ports blocking other ships moving other products. And yes, their other value is if/when the point where they are deployed no longer needs them, they can be redeployed to the next place they are most needed.
Well Done Germany.
