How are people in an apartment complex that houses 5,000 people supposed to charge their vehicles? The existing parking decks were not designed to carry the extra tonnes of weight that would be added by charging stations?

My apartment building just installed a dozen. They’re just like, an electrical cable and a hundred lb of other stuff. Buildings will install the infrastructure, and easily.
Smart power sharing. It’s very common. Look up EverCharge.
@MSNBCULT Battery swaps would be nice. I just don’t see it happening. It’s too much of a pain and stress on the chasis and battery pack. Fortunately rapid/fast charging can fully recharge a batter 3-4 hours. Many get over 50% in ~ an hour. Besides even a half charge is perfectly fine for most city people’s day. Combine that with with wireless charging and power sharing and it fits most needs.
Still see ICE cars in more rural areas for a long time to come though. Especially diesel for utility vehicles and trucks.

Actually, CA is using Tesla power walls as virtual power plants to help keep the lights on. They charge up off peak and can send their energy to the grid during peak demand. Nice! Oh, and most people charge their EVs at night when rates are low. It also helps the power company to even out the load.
Katie Porter just proved in no uncertain terms that the current inflation is due mostly to corporate price gouging.

Get real. Nobody charges for 2 hours at a Supercharger. Typically 20-30 mins. Also, nobody with young kids drives for 200+ miles without stopping for food, drink, potty-time.
