Following one of Russia’s fiercest bombing campaigns in Ukraine since the start of the war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asks in a G7 meeting for an “air shield” against further aerial attacks. CNN's Military Analyst Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling joins Bianna Golodryga to explain why he won’t get that. #CNN #News

Finally , Someone is telling the truth about Air Defence system .
@Terje Oseberg but I thought you all said Russian missiles were faulty and wouldn’t even launch so why the interest in air defense systems now ?😂
@Oliver 101, We are referring to Russia’s antique nukes from the Soviet Union.
@Oliver 101, The Iskanders use chips from the west. They are more modern. However, due to sanctions, they can’t replace them, so they will eventually run out. They just wasted 83 of them on non military targets.

Aside from the fact its a smaller geography. How does Israel do it so well & Ukraine couldn’t?
Steadily, Ukraine is reducing Russian military capabilities to nuclear only. Would be a very good time for people to rise up in Russian satellite states like Georgia and Belarus.
@Maxawe Some, LOL

Folks, Allied Forces have NEVER been defeated in the past and that shall not happen EVER because of the teamwork and joined forces: that is OUR STRENGTH. Stand Strong , Western Allies 💯💯
@spidey56765 American’s are dying there now , ex military vets.
@Mutka Luikkunen Russia won that war for Europe and the US.
@Z O So Russia “did most of the fighting” in the WW1,Korea,Vietnam,the first Iraq war,Afghanistan and the 2nd Iraq war did it…? 🤡
A great analysis of the situation in Ukraine! Although I (and my family here in the South of Poland, living 400km away from the border with Ukraine) would want a different answer to the military facts, it’s something we all need to understand here in Easrthen Europe. I would say that our Polish media have been treating us as adults and given us a similar message for when it comes to the real actual level of threath from russia.

@Joe Dead yet you can’t point out my “lies” weird huh?
The term “air shield” is already used to refer to existing bases that are part of NATO’s land-based missile defense system in Romania or Poland. We need such bases in Ukraine.
Besides, President Zelenskyy was not talking about an existing “air shield,” but about a new-generation system specifically designed for a new type of threat – russian terrorism. Just as a brand-new drone was designed specifically for Ukraine.
Given the growing nuclear threat from russian terrorists, we need more missile defense bases to protect the world.
God help us from your logic. It would be almost impossible to shoot down a terrain hugging gps guided cruise missile equipped with a tactical nuclear weapon. And a real fallacy is to think that a missile system will be able to protect a country. No matter how modern a system it is. We are talking about land based, space based and AWACS based detection “overwatch” with a countrywide deployment of intercept missiles and phalanx type weapons systems. And still a hypersonic missile traveling mach 5+ will make this modern “net” obsolete. Oh and mach 5 is 3836 mph.
You had two of such bases in Ukraine, Russia bombed it on day 3…killing NATO troops as well.
It should be agreeable to design systems specifically for Ukraine. As long as this conflict could go on for that’s probably the best plan.
@SmokeStack Ukraine is currently under sustain missiles strikes and there’s no way Russia is letting anything in, not to mentioned they are out of power and communications with Russian planes overhead.
Ok, but more air defence surely will be helpful.
Certainly more air defense will be helpful it’s just that it is difficult to protect everything in such a large area.
He’s correct: air defense systems only protect specific areas and against certain threats. Cruise missiles are always iffy to defend against.
NASAMS systems, Patriot batteries and Iron dome. Three layers. And make it extensive.
President Zelenskyy is also speaking to the Ukrainian people, who are not military, when he uses words like “shield”. His speeches are not just for western ears. 🇺🇦🇺🇸🇺🇦
@A.R Ahmed Really? Russia beating the best army in the world?
@Manjunath Better a comedian than a madman!
@YL915 Madman better than a Senile Old Man in White House 😂
@JOAT_Dad Actually Putin is humiliating Washington and London 😂

Poland, one of my favorite countries and people. Ten months ago it was just some country somewhere in Europe. The fact that you are helping people from a neighboring country, and the way you’re doing it, is an inspiration to people globally. Respect!
@Democracy #1 😂 Poland invaded Moscow sometime centuries ago, they’re not so innocent as they’re projecting , please read Russian history from it’s Government sites.. not from Russian Dissenters…
It’s simply mind boggling that Russia continues to spend it’s dwindling supply of precision missiles, rockets and drones on citizen targets like apartment buildings, churches and children’s playgrounds while the Ukrainian military is steadily advancing and reclaiming territory. It increasingly seems that the Russian military is not capable of thinking in terms of military strategy. Even after losing over 1,000 tanks, they still send their tanks out alone without troop support. They still leave their ammunition stockpiles unprotected and vulnerable to attack. They still bunch up the armored vehicles so that multiple vehicles are destroyed in a single attack. They are inept. They make stupid, armature mistakes and seem to be pigheaded in refusing to learn from them. Meanwhile the Ukrainian army pushes on. putin is now going to go down in history as nothing more than a dufus.
I respect you all..love from scotland..if I wasn’t fighting cancer I would be over there helping..its disgusting.. pure love and 🤝 unity 🤝
I wish you a full recovery. Thank you.
Best wishes Gary x
The president said “Shield” but he meant he wants to Iron Dome for all of Ukraine
“More difficult, more advanced, hard to use” – I’ve doubts about a lot of scientists or at least people with high education in any army. The Ukrainian army proved that its one of the smartest armies currently. Give Ukraine everything needed, there will be no problems with reading manuals.
God bless people of Ukraine 🇺🇦 and 🇵🇱❤️❤️
My concern for the Ukrainian people is for the winter. It can get below freezing there. With so many homes in Ukraine destroyed, many people are likely to be frozen to death. Especially in the villages. I haven’t heard of any plans to address this.
He makes a decent point but it is ludicrous to assume nobody in Ukraine is capable of being trained in a time effective manner.

The West came on board to offer support to Ukraine in a time of a major crisis so lets give them all the damn support they need. And as far as air defense goes they should get all and every thing that is needed to help protect their Cities and the civilians living in them. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦💙🇺🇦💛🇺🇦💙
