For the first time in 50 years, a spacecraft is preparing to launch on a journey to the moon. The Artemis I mission, including the Space Launch System Rocket and Orion spacecraft, is targeting liftoff on August 29 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. CNN speaks with NASA administrator Bill Nelson, who lays out what to expect. #CNN #News

I follow Cnn International with love every day. I’m a Turk, I’m improving my English thanks to the news you gave and your nice explanation. Could you please add Turkish subtitles? π₯°
@Nick Nack Paddy Whack You Ain’t Black Jack Derp.
Been to Kennedy as a teen, that rocket mover, the building so big it gets it own weather, what humans are capable of is absolutely brilliant!!! When it’s not devastating. Can we please choose brilliant more?
Good to see NASA back. I grew up in the 60s and was fascinated by the first moon shot. Space exploration needs to be a national event, not just for billionaire egos.
@God Speed Yeah exactly lmao π
My great uncle was an engineer for NASA. He researched many of the materials to build that rocket, and also the ISS.
In a way Itβs almost like a drop of my blood is on the Moon and in the International Space Station.
I love the night sky and i go on meteor shower vacations during the New Moon. Far from any light pollution.
You can see everything! especially the Milky Way.
One more thing, Uncle must do reeee-search!
Considering what humans are doing to this planet, we need to make it an international event. It’s imperative that if we’re to survive as a species, we need to find new planets to colonize, so we can start to screw them up too.
This is great, I can’t wait to see this.
waste of time and money. not helping us any.
@Bombastic Enterprise It would have taken much longer for personal computers to become normal without the Apollo program.
You won’t mate πππ
Letβs hope it works.
This piece got me fired up for project Gateway; well done and exceptionally good editing. Good job
I Know about the STS ceramic tile problems. But I haven’t heard of Apollo heat shield issues. Either way, this is great!
STS was a lot of tiles designed to handle a flat bottomed, winged aircraft. Apollo had a one piece heat shield that just needed to re-enter the atmosphere.
I’m afraid to believe it. The moon! Again!
Regardless of wether people think this is a waste of $ or not, I wish NASA a successful mission. It’ll be exciting to see.
It’s really not a waste of $ considering it’s less than 0.005 of the whole annual budget lol (or 0.50%). Also, there’s so much out there in our own galaxy alone. Hundred billions of planets and hundreds of billions of stars. We need to keep improving these spacecrafts. lol
Actually very excited about this. Looks awesome! Godspeed π€
Launch starts Monday August 29 2022 at 12:33 UTC

This is pretty funny when you think about it. Heβs concerned with helping the public understand what NASA is trying to accomplish. The interviewer is worried about focusing on diversity in space. This is certainly getting tiresome.

Dark side of the Moon or the one we see every night? I noticed that the moon stopped spinning.

If we were able to go to the moon 50 years ago how do they not know what will work? Why don’t they use the same kind of heat shield as last time? Plus 50 years we should be able to do it better.
