Regardless of if you think he should be president or not, I think this side of Joe Biden is a good example of one of the benefits of democracy. Yes, it can encourage cynical politicians who pretend to listen to people’s problems to manipulate them and get their votes, but it can also elevate and reward genuinely good people who care about others and want to help them.
