Brazil’s president has deployed more than 43,000 army troops to battle blazing wildfires in the Amazon after an international outcry. Brazil's National Institute for Space Research has said that one-and-a-half soccer fields of Amazon rainforest are being destroyed every minute of every day.

That’s sad and I hope everybody’s okay
Be glad that The New York Times has reported that satellites have shown the fires are mostly on preexisting farmland not forested areas. The fires in 2003 and 2010 were as bad or worse than this year ND in the past five decades there is 5% more forest on the planet, equal to the Amazon.
@Kip McEwen Bullshit!
US should send planes to dump water and retardant. US needs to help if they will let us.
@Commander Useless we keep telling you how stupid you are for watching CNN. But I guess ignorece is your weakness..
Do you idiots spend even a minute outside the mainstream news..
@LAST CALL
fire retardants
For killing the fire
God people are dumb
@Commander Useless are you God damn stupid where did they get the satellite images then
Oh you expect me to believe the entire thing is CGI
Trump: “I want to help! And I know how to.do it. Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Where there’s fire you need water. And they got plenty of it around Puerto Rico. And I got my paper towels! Mr. Preisdent from Brazil- call me!”
“He would see the world burn if he could be king of the ashes.”
Wreckless : Aptly named. You have no notions of the things you speak of. But, that doesn’t stop you does it, kid? What a waste of important organs went into making a pathetic waste of skin like you . . . SMH 🙂
cj p : Jealous? That’s with REAL money, that he EARNED. 😁
YouWillbe Mocked : What happened to, “Small Government Conservatism,” son? “I hereby order,” you to STFU 😁

Sorry Trumptards, we all do think you’re a bunch of morons. Please stop proving it over and over again. Thanks. 🙂
All those wild animals… the bird nests with poor baby birds who are too young to fly… tragedy.
FULLmeltHASH how much did you donate ?
@declan h not this large
@charkicolate mudus yes this happens all the time in the amazon the only way to know if they’re bigger is to wait till the end of the dry season so we don’t know how much worse it is yet but it is bad
declan h “Brazil’s National Space Research Institute, which monitors deforestation, has recorded 76,720 wildfires across the country this year, as of Thursday. That’s an 85% rise over last year’s figure. And a little over half of those, 40,341, have been spotted in the Amazon region.
The agency says it doesn’t have figures for the area burned, but deforestation as a whole has accelerated in the Amazon this year.”

@Katy Kipling they also say they have to wait till end of the season before saying how much more land has burned, its important to know what area has burned one big fire could do as much damage as thousands of small ones.
Absolutely horrifying. And Brazil’s president supports deforestation…
elijah mikle Do you actually believe that if you just burn the jungle you’ll have a legal farm? Let me tell you the truth, if you just don’t follow the land use regulations, which require a certain percentage of native jungle inside your property, you’ll pay huge fines and trap you in a judicial limbo. We have many other regulations that are harsher than most countries in the world, it doesn’t matter what the hell a president says because these are laws, we don’t live in a dictatorship, he will need to get approved by the other branches of the government. The problem is that yes, illegal fires do occur and the numbers are not decreasing anymore simply because the government doesn’t have money for inspection and law enforcement, the past governments messed up with the country’s budget and we are just getting out of an economic crisis, they have priorities like paying people’s pensions and healthcare. Yes, I live in this very jungle.
@Gabriel De Luca It is a fact! Bulsonaro has fought against the NGO’s that have criticised his denial of the increased destruction of the Amazon!
@Kip McEwen Oh grow a brain and do some constructive research before running on about bugger all!
@Gabriel De Luca Then bloodywell look after your environment!
Jules Nagbunga It is a fact indeed, he stopped agreements with some NGOs that received a lot of money from the government with poor regulation but it is fake that he denied about the deforestation.
Remember people, its the amazon rainforest you need to help out, not amazon dot com.
No i need my stuff in one day
😁😁😁😊👍
True Tech : The Earth has Lung Cancer. I blame Trump. Seriously. the Paris Accord was one of his biggest early blunders . . . Smh
Actually first when my friend told me about this i thought it was the website he kept saying amazon forest and i thought the company planted trees
Philippine Ball : Trump fan? 🤔
43,000 troops…
with full bladders, I hope.
Just imagine if pee was flammable, if they drank enough alcohol is could happen idk.
About damn time. The people we pick to run the world are all incompetent bottom feeders.
The New York Times has reported that satellites have shown the fires are mostly on preexisting farmland and not forested areas and no proof Bolsonaro ordered the fires. Secondly, the fires in 2003 and 2010, under liberal governments, were as bad or worse than now.
Feels like they took too long to respond???
Then stop picking those people. The problem with most voters is they still believe that wealthy businessmen make good politicians. NO, THEY DO NOT.
Elections have consequences.
@Kip McEwen Please remember that all those farmlands were forest before; it’s an old practice there and in other places of the world (Nepal, Chile, all USA and Europe) to cut the trees or burn them to make space for crops, cattle or houses. The problem here is, fire can too easily (or deliberately) escape from its limits and burn the forest (which has happened and is happening), the growing absence of trees makes rains scarcer, the drier forest burns easier year after year, and if the forest reaches a point where it can’t sustain itself anymore, it will disappear. I hope you can understand the disaster that it would be: even if it wasn’t a tipping point in climate change, it would certainly make agriculture impossible in those lands in the long run.
It isn’t a coincidence that this year, precisely a no drought one, the fires grew bigger and more numerous. Not every year the cities are covered in smoke. Bolsonaro has clearly stated his vision of progress related to land exploitation, his “environment minister” called a murdered environment tribal leader “irrelevant” while taking away protection for the natives, the space agency’s chief who first showed the fires extension was fired, and it took international pressure and economical threats to force him to do something to stop the disaster.
Of course not all the fires are the making of Bolsonaro’s hands, but in that rain forest fires aren’t natural, and he is the kind of guy who believes that extensive agriculture is always better than a useless forest full of vermin and Indians. It doesn’t matter if herbicides, plaguicides and synthetic fertilizers are needed once the thin soil that characterizes the rainforest is gone.
You should know that mentality. It’s the same that has put fossil fuel lobbyists in charge of EPA, has fired a bunch of scientists from USDA, has shrunk national parks for oil and uranium, and has repealed regulations for clean air and water. The ones *you* breath and drink. Why do you think Bolsonaro is called “the Brazilian Trump”? (Why is it that no one who promotes ecology, free international trade, good relationships and/or politeness is called a Trump?)
Military responds to what, compared and contrasted to firefighters responding to what, intellectual frauds?
I feel bad for all the Wild Animals and the Native Tribes that lived there. IT’S A DISASTER!!!!!!!!
shaquille mccray I feel bad for everyone living on this planet.
Collateral damage. Mere casulitues of industry…
Unfortunately.
I understand that Messi the Soccer player is donating the money to get five big planes water tanks to helping in the fires problem
You know there’s no money to be made because America isn’t getting involved.
I can’t believe it how did he not see this coming it’s impossible? Damnit Al Gore shame on you!!!
So sad for the tribal people living there God please save them and their resources…we beg you
When the headaches start, you’ll know it’s too late. Start seriously monitoring the world CO2 levels people.
Up next : Jeff Bezos is buying Amazon to create more Amazon warehouses.
#theEndisNear

What a mess. Someone needs to be held accountable for this.
If the fire is 85% more than last year…..how come there were NO media coverage of the Brazil fire LAST YEAR??!! It still was MASSIVE FIRES….
