This man is a terrible human being and borderline psychotic. Everything he’s done has worsened this situation for the victims and their families. He allowed the massacre to occur, allowed the cops to peddle lies to the press and has since then been in hiding like the criminal he is. He doesn’t need to be fired, this was dereliction of duty, he needs to be placed in prison.
To be sincerely honest… in my humble opinion, articulating succinctly and without a hidden agenda, visions of grandeur, ulterior motives, sentimentalism, sarcasm, becoming nostalgic or disingenuous and of course, without offending anyone who holds views contrary to my own, and without burying any impure thoughts within my subconscious and without lies or deception, to the actual truth with my clear open mind and loyal loving heart, expressing whatever has been embedded inside me for a long time which I didn’t share with others because I was petrified of doing so, is about to be revealed without myself becoming a slave to fear and/or a co-signee of preposterous political correctness. Today, by gathering all the courage and motivation I could muster, I just want to state the fact that I actually feel and think that I have absolutely nothing prophetic, inspirational or even remotely interesting to say.
@M4dAf4ka You’re right the focus should be on changing things, the guns. For sure. But the way these people reacted is also remarkable in its depravity.
@Bryan B I never know if you ppl that bring up the Supreme Court say this in earnest like boot lickers or are sarcastically trying to point out the ridiculousness of the ruling.
“When the families stop grieving”??? Not just tone-deaf and completely offensive but throws salt in the wounds of said families, such a nerve to say such a thing.

Exactly.. If he truly understood and cared he would know that part of the grieving process generally includes having questions answered which he seems to refuse to do.
That was my first thought too……I cringed when he said it! The parents would feel better if he answered to the question that makes it so much worse. Knowing some of those children could have lived possibly had his decision been different. Gut wrenching!
@general lobster Though he should be fired, he lawyered up and will probably sue Texas if he got fired. Abbott might give him cover.
There is no such thing as “quit grieving.” Guy is a freaking police commander and doesn’t even know how to speak correctly, but they gave him a gun and a badge! Just an absolute disgrace!! Those families, and families all over, will never “quit grieving” when we have overly and abundantly incompetent, and irresponsible law enforcement!! The shooter went through the door without hesitation and CHOSE to kill. The police hesitated and CHOSE not to proceed with a tactical takedown of that monster. That’s not a police decision that you made at a commander level, that’s just you failing to react as a coward! Don’t give me that nonsense that the police didn’t know who or how many shooters were in the building. That’s astounding, neither did those innocent kids! And they did more to hide and protect themselves than full grown adults with combat command authority! Unbelievable!
@Textboy cowboy For sure, they are lying.
Serve and protect……. themselves. Can we really teach our children to trust a cold and desensitized person like that? To quote John Prine “some humans ain’t human”. No one gets automatic trust because of their job, those days are long gone.

@Yearning Nation — Are you blind? I’ve seen 20 videos with 6+ ambulances near the school.
Respect to the reporter for physically getting in this cowardly bureaucrat’s way and slowing down his retreat.
@BoydofZINJ Arredondo is a Spanish name. 🙄 And they called in the CBAs, my guess is, because they were more plentiful and better equipped, shields, etc.
Where’s the respect for the community. Wasn’t the time as said to you

She answered her question with the statement: “The families will never stop grieving”. So the day after those families stop grieving will be the day that Aredondo will address it. In other words: NEVER.
What’s with referring to him with female pronouns
he should have stayed AWOL
Your logic checks out. Accountability is necessary for the community, but the grief will never end.
“You’re not blocking me, are you?” He is a arrogant, POS and a coward. He hasn’t come out to give a statement or take accountability. Pathetic!

@Suzanne Barker Would you also be in that position, and run from simple, direct questions? You’re choosing an odd hill to plant your flag on.
@Suzanne Barker yeah honestly it didn’t even sound mad bruh why are they ripping on him he just asked if he really was trying to block him and hold him up which he literally eas

In my experience with interacting with police and public officials is: ” when you make a mistake, it’s your fault. But when they make a mistake, guess what, it’s still your fault !”

Disgusting that he said “when the parents quit grieving” because the parents will grieve for the rest of their lives.
He is a coward and that was his way of saying that he never plans on talking publicly about his major FU that cost precious and innocent lives.
@Noneof Yourbusiness “We Are Stronger”
A Poem by Steven F Gooden
We’re never as strong, as we are until we have to be. Never Do as much, unless the need we see. Only give our best, when we fail at mediocrity. We Love rather than hate when we admit we’re one humanity. We always give more, when compassion moves our heart with unbridled generosity. We Become more of our potential when we are made to see, that clearly our minds can believe in unfathomable possibilities, while seizing every opportunity, here in lies one’s destiny. More than our scars, higher than our stars, for in our flaws are what defines our features, they’re uniquely ours, as human creatures.
We can run faster than on our slowest day. Reason better, and thinking it through all the way, regardless which direction our emotions may sway. We can find our voice when speechless, our strong words with meekness and our Courage in weakness. Always patience not quickness. Silence for peace than loudness, quietness of fear, not hopeless, for time and effort are equally unbiased. We are more than the stories we’re told, we’re the one’s we write, each page unfold. We are the sum of our Lies and truth, fantasy, fiction, faith, and myths, no matter how uncouth. These are what shape us, our lives lived is the proof. We can be more right than wrong. More just than judge. More godlike than unlike. Reflecting Sunlight in our darkest night.
Providing refuge. Never more alive until we die within and begin again. A Human Ark Divine in our human spark.

@White Dove TY!! that is so insensitive
@Malissa Key I am sorry for the loss of your Mother and that some days are harder then others but grieving the loss of a child is completely different , there is absolutely NO LOSS like the loss of a child . We understand that as hard as it is our parents are “supposed to ” die before us but there is no understanding when a child is lost because your children are not supposed to die before you do . It has been almost 3 1/2 yrs since I lost my youngest son a week after his 26th birthday , it is just a never ending hell agony , every day it just gets harder and harder as it gets longer and longer since I have seen him , hugged him , heard his voice
Oh wow, as soon as he uses the grief of the families as a shield he showed what a piece of garbage he is. That was beyond disgusting.
I missed that, but yes you let their family members die and now your using them as an excuse🤮

Once upon a time, people in a position of power admitted when they made a mistake, and resigned. Now they just lay low for a while and hope people forget, then carry on as if nothing ever happened. What a sad world we live in.

Sir the reporter is LITERALLY there because of YOU blocking police and parents from saving dying children. 🤨. Now think if the reporter would have blocked him for 80 MINUTES. He would have been arrested.
Agreed.
If I was that reporter, I would have said “Like how your officers blocked parents from trying to enter the school to save their kids?”

The way Pete was so callous about saying “when the families quit grieving” is infuriating! He has no right to say that about the parents of those kids when he and his officers were right outside the school and did nothing for an HOUR! I’m glad that Shimon got in his way to make him talk to him. The police need to be held accountable for what happened!

“You’re not blocking me, are you?” – police chief who blocked the cops from saving the children.
As a Navy sailor, this man sickens me. Military personnel are trained to run into danger to save lives. We hear or know about gun shots, we suit up and go asap. What are the excuses here? An absolute disgrace.
Pretty sure he would have had a massive coronary event had he tried to run anywhere except the donut shop
Well that is why we thank you all millitary heroes for your service and not those bastards in the offices
The best way to “be respectful to the families” is to tell them the truth. Accountability is respectful.

If one of my family member died in this tragedy or even if my kids just went to that school at would be in his office EVERY day
Props to CNN as this is the closest thing to actual reporting you’ve done in years. Good for you I’d love to see more of this rather than the political shilling you’ve done forever. Keep up on this story and get us some actual facts please so we can hold these officials accountable.
He’s using the consequences of his actions as a means to avoid answering questions. When the police investigate you for a murder, you can’t tell them to go away because you’re grieving and to show respect for the dead.
props to the anchor for calling out the offensive “when the parents quit grieving” shield to hide behind, and for calling him out on the ignorance of thinking the parents will ever stop grieving.
the fact that he doesn’t even look remorseful and was smiling the whole time is chilling to look at…
