The founding fathers of the US envisioned that America had a small government with limited powers because they knew that the bigger the government, the smaller the citizen. They feared tyranny would arise from bureaucrats who had too much power over the individual, and they were right. The 20th century was the most murderous century in recorded human history. Who did all those killings? BIG governments. Examples of tyrannical governments: Socialist Cuba under Fidel Castro, Soviet Union under Stalin, Communist China under Chairman Mao Tse Tung. The citizens need to defend themselves against tyranny. Here’s what I would support in terms of gun control: Heavy universal background checks, having to go through a process to get a permit to own a gun, mandatory training at a shooting range, putting individuals who pose a threat to the public on an FBI watch list etc. Here’s what I will not support: Gun bans and gun free zones.
