  1. Congratulations, Nathan!!! So inspiring and eloquent! Thank you for being such great sportsman and continue to inspire more young athletes of the future.

  2. Nathan’s ovation to Yuzu is trully the best sportmanship ever! He is so humble and so unique and knows he is the best, but he is not afraid to acknowledge the greatness of yuzu. I love Nathan Chen!! I am only sad that we never got to see a clean head to head between these two. I wish I would have a seen a competition where both had clean skates. That would have been sooo freaking cool!

    1. Hopefully we will get to see them head to head at Worlds next month! I don’t know if both of them are planning to compete there, but I certainly hope so.

    2. @Elisabeth Anderson I am almost certain that yuzu wont be competing at worlds. I mean he has one more chance to land the quad in competition, so this might be a chance for him, but I dont know. This olympics were never about winning for yuzu. He went in coachless, with a jump that nobody else has landed… If feel like he came to the olympics to try and do history with the jump. Even if he did not win, landing that jump at the freaking olympics would have been better than winning.

    3. Right. Nathan knows he’s the greatest male skater since 2018 and really, the greatest of all time. It’s just proper and professional to not say that about yourself. I think Hanyu only defeated Nathan twice in his career, and never in the last four years. No skater past or present can skate Nathan’s programs jump for jump. Because of that, each time he takes the ice he makes history. Not only does he own the SP, LP and total score world records, but he owns 5 of the top 6 total program scores of all time, 7 of the top ten scores over 300, and the top four LP scores.

With regard to your comment about never seeing a clean head-to-head between him and Hanyu, giving Hanyu his due respect, the reason for that is because (as NBC stated at ’21 Worlds) Hanyu has not skated two clean programs back-to-back with all +GOE and full rotation on all his jumping passes since 2015. Everyone remembers Hanyu’s injury in ’17, so perhaps that only exacerbated things for him. In contrast, Nathan has skated many back-to-back clean programs, such as at ’21 Worlds.

    4. I didn’t expect him to come back to combo 4Lz/3Toe. Nathan did it in the second half of SP 3 times in row and CLEAN !
      US Nationals, 2x in Beijing. I just can’t !
” the greatest of all time”, no question about that …

  3. Nathan is not only an Olympic gold medalist … he’s an accomplished pianist who also plays the guitar and he’s a student at Yale with a double major … I feel like I need a re-do, but I couldn’t be prouder of this young man! He really is a “Rocketman”!😽🚀🥇

    1. Yes, I agree that Nathan is really a “Rocketman”! Both the left and the right sides of his brain are so balanced – the artistic side and the logical side having Statistics and Data Science as Nathan’s double major at Yale University! What an amazing gentleman!!!

  4. I am so genuinely happy for Nathan, what a joy to see his Olympic dream come true! His performance was amazing! And if I can be this happy, being only a fan who has never even met him, imagine how this must feel for his family who has stood by his side and supported him throughout his career. So congrats not only to the Olympic champ himself, but also to his family, friends and coaches!

    1. Congrat to all us common people enjoying the even more precious prize of freedom for every one living in America…the chinese athletes will not get this prize of freedom even if the chinese athletes had won the gold medal.

  5. A true Olympian with gracious sportsmanship and humility. Thank you for representing the U .S. ❤️❤️❤️

  6. Nathan truly is a humble, gracious athlete, artist and champion!! His acknowledgment and respect of how amazing Yuzuru is was so admirable! Much respect to you Nathan!❤️👍🏽

  7. Nathan Chen’s routine was so beautiful and fluid along with his strong quad jumps. He seems to excel at everything he does. Congratulations Mr. Chen.

  8. Congrats Nathan, Yuma, and Shoma! Always well spoken and interesting to listen to. I understand that this is USA Today so they want to focus on Nathan, but they really shouldn’t call it a “full press conference” if they’re going to cut out Shoma and Yuma’s questions and answers. Just saying.

  9. Such an inspiring role model for the youth. Great guy on and off the ice. I hope he does not retire yet and sticks around to defend his National and World title before exiting.

  10. So proud of Nathan Chen..i am also a person from immigrant parents from China and they came to the US so we could have the opportunities to be successful along with the freedom to pursue greatness….Congratulations

  11. So proud of all the great athletes who are pushing the human limits regardless which country they choose to represent. Wish them all good luck in their career.

  12. The quads he did were more difficult than the quads by the others. And he landed them beautifully. He truly deserved the gold.

  13. Nathan is not only talented but articulate and humble. He embodies the ideals of theOlympics. He is a national treasure. Makes me proud to be an American!! Congrats!!!

  14. What a fine young man. A testament to the can-do attitude of an American. Thank you for you patriotism. What a great example of a humble winner! Congratulations Nathan. You deserve your success! We are proud
