NEW YORK, NY, January 16, 2014 – Renowned American artist and cultural entrepreneur Danny Simmons will host the 4th Edition of Caribbean Fine Art (CaFA) Fair – Barbados to be held March 12-16, 2014 at the exciting venue in the heart of historic Bridgetown, Barbados – the Spirit Bond Building. CaFA Fair opens on Wednesday, March 12, 6-9 pm with a Gala Reception featuring a live musical performance, a preview of “Four Bajan Masters” a special exhibition featuring works of art by celebrated Barbadian artists Fielding Babb, Timothy Callender. Clifford Hobbs and Carlton Murrell; and over 35 exhibitors of paintings, sculpture, photography, drawings, original limited edition prints and new media exploring the cultural traditions of the Caribbean and the African Diaspora.
Another feature of CaFA Fair Barbados 2014 will be “Diaspora Dialogue” an exhibition of works by artists Gabe Diouf – Senegal, JW Ford – USA, Anthony Romaine – USA, Danny Simmons – USA, Ernani Silva – Brazil, TAFA – Ghana, and Willie Torbert – USA. This exhibition will explore the African influence on contemporary Diaspora artistic expression and investigates the position of Caribbean art in the broader Diaspora conversation. A reception will be held on Thursday evening, March 13, from 6.00 pm to celebrate these internationally recognized artists. Danny Simmons will host an evening of spoken word performances by Barbadian artistes and special guest performers on Friday, March 14. Caribbean Art Symposium, scheduled for Saturday, March 15, will focus on the theme “Caribbean Integration and the Cultural Industries”, with two panels drawn from the fields of arts, diplomacy, and government.. CaFA Fair will close on Sunday, March 16 with a Caribbean film presentation and discussion.
CaFA Fair will showcase works by 35 internationally and regionally acclaimed artists including   Laura James – Antigua; Ras Ishi Butcher, Carlton Murrell and Ras Akyem I Ramsay – Barbados; Shimoda and David Wilson – Dominica; Patricia Brintle and Francks Deceus-Haiti; Easton Davy – Nevis; Diogenes Ballester, Puerto Rico; David Boothman, Laura Gadson and Glen Martin, Trinidad & Tobago; and Ademola Olugebefola – USVI. Several talented emerging artists will also be showcased including Tabitha Theogene – Haiti; Jason Auguste, Nicolle Blackwood and Andrea Cauthen – Jamaica.
