Michael K. Williams, an actor best known for his role as Omar Little on HBO's "The Wire," has died at the age of 54. Williams was found dead in his New York City apartment, a law enforcement official told CNN.

I just love his GQ interview. He is SO Brooklyn. I remember that interview making me actually love him as a person, not just an actor. True Brooklynites are a dying breed, so the news of his death truly shook me.

He was a brilliant actor, and by all accounts a wonderfully generious and kind man. Sometimes the greatest artists carry the greatest pain to accomplish their craft. I’m grateful for what he gave us in the time he had.
