The National Association of Jamaican and Supportive Organizations (NAJASO ), a non- profit, tax-exempt umbrella Association of Jamaicans and supporters throughout the United States and internationally, will stage its 36th convention July 18-20, 2013 at Secrets Wild Orchid Hotel, Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica, W.I. The convention is themed: NAJASO- a partnership for transformation.
NAJASO was founded July 4, 1977, when representatives of Jamaican groups from across the United States of America met in Washington, DC and launched the national body to address immediate problems which primarily affected their communities in the United States. This event is hosted by the NAJASO Jamaica team in collaboration with its executive body: Roy Davidson, National President; Dr Richard Constable M.D., Chairman of the Board; Carol Williams, National Convention Chair and Winston Wellington, Jamaica Education Team member.
The objective of NAJASO is to work together with other organizations for the economic and social development of the people of Jamaica on a national and local level.
The convention will highlight transformative relationships, recognize members, business partners, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders for their outstanding leadership, professional skills, membership training and volunteer work in support of the Association and its mission, goals and objectives.
The NAJASO Jamaica team eagerly awaits the arrival of local and international delegates en masse to begin to roll out their exciting convention package which includes 20 professional guest speakers, seminars and workshop presentations in Health, Education, Business & Investment Opportunities, Tourism & Young Professionals. To kick off the convention, a formal opening Ceremony & Reception will take place on Thursday, July 18 from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm with distinguished guests: His Excellency, The Most Honorable, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, ON, GCMG, CD and others.
On Friday, July 19 at 12 Noon there is the formal Business Luncheon with Keynote Speaker – Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Andrew Holness. The Most Honorable Portia Simpson Miller, Prime Minister of Jamaica is the Keynote Speaker at the Gala and Awards presentation on Saturday, July 20. Entertainment include the recipients of the PM Awards for Excellence in the Performing Arts for their service to Jamaican music, as well as the legendary FAB 5 and Winston “Merritone” Blake.

Through the efforts of the Hon. Senator Alfred Rattray, Esq, Jamaica’s fourth Ambassador to the USA, NAJASO was officially incorporated on July 04, 1977 in Washington, DC, when representatives of Jamaican groups from across the USA met in Washington, DC and launched this national body to address immediate problems which primarily affected their communities in the USA.
NAJASO was therefore created to unite these splinter groups under an umbrella organization for more inter and intra-communication channels for efficiency and effectiveness. Today NAJASO is comprised of 150 active members from the Caribbean and USA helping Jamaicans across the Diaspora to live better lives in the areas of education, health, tourism & entrepreneurism.
