Slogans come to mind….drop the gun, let em’ run. There should never be the death penalty for a police stop…… unless that person is an active shooter or assailant, no gun.
@Elizabeth Ayres – I agree with you. Everyone (not just POC like me) is afraid of the police. It’s by design. When I get pulled over at night, I stop ASAP, turn on all the lights inside the vehicle, put my hands at 10 and 2. And make all my movements very slow, and say what I am doing.
Bottom line: We both want to go home ALIVE. And I will do whatever it takes, to NOT alarm a cop that has lethal force, that may have some extreme biases.
@Bat Boy I absolutely agree that not just POC are afraid of police. ALOT of the time cops treat the poor just as badly (if not WORSE) than they treat people of color.
@Bat Boy If that were enough, we may not be here having this discussion. I do the same, speak clearly with respect, answer honestly any questions, provide paperwork. There is someone who invented an ‘I’m Not Reaching’ pouch for young black men to put their license and insurance in and clip it to their door. That is f-ed up.

As a general rule…
If you are not white, not male, not abled, not rich, not heterosexual…you will face some degree of bias against you, whether you know it, or not.
To what degree? It depends on where you live, etc.
Everyone has biases. But, if your apart of a certain group, (which is a lot of people), you’ll encounter it.
@Bat Boy True. But not ok. Landed white males feel entitled. But worthwhile change isn’t easy. Old paradigms die hard. Once we come to grips with the larceny that has been committed against us by the very rich, and the efforts they have made to put us against each other while they lined their pockets, there will be a cosmic shift in how we govern ourselves. Kings of nations or kings of industry, they have all dined out on our misery, and need a reckoning which brings them on their knees to us, not the other way around.
Can you carry a gun under influence of drugs or alcohol? The police do test people in the streets like they do to car drivers?
