Billions of cicadas have started emerging in some parts of the U.S.
The Brood X periodical cicadas have spent the last 17 years slowly developing underground until they are fully grown and ready to mate.
"I mean, there's nothing else like this on the entire planet Earth, even in the entire universe," said Michael Raupp, a cicada enthusiast and professor emeritus of entomology at the University of Maryland.
