Bravery Of Witnesses Made The Difference In Chauvin Trial | Rachel Maddow | MSNBC
Wow, I hadn’t seen that article just wow.
@Doesnt Matter Thank God for the CAMERAS. Were it not for that, even the witness testimony might not have swayed the day. It didn’t hurt that his own fellow officers actually told the truth, that what he did was excessive.
@slactweak right. All 50 of the witnesses for 2 weeks. Just to convince us of what wew already knew
@Doesnt Matter Well, they weren’t trying to convince US, they had to convince those 12 jurors and, in the case of a Use of Force death, that’s not always an easy thing to do. Witness the Rodney King verdict as evidence of the truth of that statement.
@slactweak we knew it was wrong and he should be accountable/ punished. They weren’t trying to prove that. They were trying to prove what he “died from”. Which was still a mockery
@Doesnt Matter That defense team did what they were hired to do, cast doubt on the Prosecution case. Fortunately for everyone concerned, (except Chauvin, of course), that wasn’t possible in this situation. We may not like their methods but they did their job and that’s what matters.
Whoever wrote that statement should be in court.
@skattan : You don’t know that, kid. You know you don’t know that. 🙄
@Ash Roskell I don’t even know who that person is.
@Otboynyy Molotok : Yeah, Donny says the same thing 🤣
@Ash Roskell Yes, of course. IF the person who wrote this, knew that he wrote, was wrong, then there should be consequences. And why do you call me a kid? What are you trying to achieve with this attitude?
AND everyone who signed off on it. Filing a false police statement, perjury etc. All the civil and criminal prosecutions the law will allow.
The police need to have liability/malpractice insurance….why are tax payers footing the bill for these bad actors? $25 million could help a lot of kids
The great thing about insurance like accident and malpractice, is that after so many incidents and rate hikes on a particular violator, it becomes unaffordable to keep them on staff AND no other station can hire them either because they can’t afford him/her or insurance refuses to cover them. Some can be reassigned to desk jobs and that’s okay.
Happened to one of my drivers at my company. Too many accidents. But the company found him a desk job and now, everybody is safer lol.
That’s a form of accountability that can be supported. Great idea.
I have a dream my friends. That one day this nation will stand up and make true it’s Creed. “We hold these truths to be self evident. That all men are created equal. That their creator endowed upon them certain rights. That amongst these rights are the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”.
I have a dream.
How many reports like this that never even made it to local news because nobody recorded what really happened?
None, these stories are created for you so they won’t slip through the cracks.
countless. my grandmother has told me some terrible stories of how the police have treated her when she was going to work as a maid for a white family but they felt that she was in the wrong hood.
@quest 77051 yeah, but which race hasn’t gone through that stuff? Maddow is pushing race stories for a specific agenda/outcome and she would have you believe that blacks were the only people that had problems. That is a bold faced lie, there were Irish sent over in cages that had to deal with an ongoing public discussion about whether they were even human. They didn’t have it easy, they couldn’t get hired, they were redlined. Maddow is a stone cold liar and all of her stories are lies meant to anger people.
I am happy for Darnella, she’s so strong and courageous.
She will now be a target for every right wing nut out there.
Omg, I hope not, that is the last person they should be attacking as she is very vulnerable
That young lady needs to be nominated for, and win, a Pulitzer Prize. Her footage helped change the course of history in this country and she needs to be duly rewarded for that.
@Frank E ‘She will now be a target for every right wing nut out there.’ All 74m of them.
@Chris ONeill
Unfortunately yes. The disinformation machine will be on overdrive. Just hop around TY and read the lies, half truths. As many say, the best place to hide a lie is between the truth.
I took a brick to the head today when someone asked, “If George Floyd was white would there be such a fuss ?”. There are none so blind as those who WILL NOT see. ✌️
Of course there would have! You are crazy!
@DasTemplar 96 the video was completely different! Was he under the care of officer’s.. yes! But they were letting him calm down in peace.. yes they should have got him medical care but they were asking him if he was okay! What we seen with George Floyd was horrific! Past his demise he still had his knee on his neck! Would you be salty if a black cop got arrested for having his knee on a white man’s neck until past death?
@Natalie Aka privilege Absolutely not. Chauvin’s name was release quickly, but they will not release the name of the black officer that killed an unarmed white woman…who was not even resisting arrest or attacking him.
@Natalie Aka privilege I dunno media doesn’t report on white crimes remember.
@imakoo sis remember what? Who said that???
Everyone who signed off on that cover up should be prosecuted for perjury, filing a false police report etc. Prosecuted to the fullest extent civil AND criminal laws will allow.
oj not guilty come on
The other three former cops are awaiting trial. What the charges will be has yet to be told but they’re going to be charged with something.
It was a very cruel killing, You are right.。They did not allowed the firefighter to help, she could had saved him
Oh she would have sucked all the fentanyl out of his blood… grow up
If it weren’t for those meddling kids with their cell phones.
You had a black Minnesota AG and and black minneapolis police chief, which also made a huge difference in this case. The Hennepin county AG would have otherwise set that criminal cop free.
Hi Racheal! Like your lay out.
Thanks, Rachel! 💜
Interesting how Chauvin’s eyes displayed concern while the verdict was being read, but only showed stark indifference while he snuffed
the life from another human being. @rychybiz
It’s so utterly chilling to realize that the only thing that prevented Chauvin from getting away with his slow and agonizing murder of another Black man was the fact that it was DOCUMENTED on camera. Imagine if they had had mobile phones with cameras back in the days of Emmet Till!
They lie on reports like that in certain communities everyday Rachel.
Excellent recap Rachel
They just flipping lied!!!! It’s unbelievable and sickening and shows how systemic the corruption is.
If not for that brave young woman recording that awful scene this cop would have walked! In fact, there wouldn’t even have been a trial!! Before cellphones how many people died?? More than any of us could even fathom!! Thank you, young lady, for your bravery!! I hope you have a long and peaceful life for you surely deserve it!!
They should make a holiday in her name for what she did, what she suffered with guilt, and what she saw that day as it will never truly leave her!! She is definitely George Floyd’s Guardian Angel!!!
Thank God for the bystanders and other witnesses who knew what they saw and had the courage to say.
