It was sedition and treason on Jan 6th.
And the higher ups who planned and executed this coup thought nothing of just sacrificing those capital police officers. They incited and aimed this mob at them, and had purposely taken away all means of the officers to protect the people they were there to protect, but also all means of defending themselves.
