Remy, this doesn’t require any sophistication at all, it’s a very simple and straightforward question, designed to demonstrate how our brains operate. Did you not, as the vast majority of people probably did, immediately think that it might be connected to Joe’s bombing of Syria, as some form of retribution, when they said he originated from Syria?
If so, just say it, there’s no shame. It’s just how we operate, we can’t control these things.

Remy, I think we agree that all shooters have the odd slate loose here and there, and that it’s abhorrent, as is all violence in my view, regardless of whether people think there is a just cause. So we think the same in that respect.
I’m just not clear what you mean when you say you didn’t think of it in the same way as we did. Do you mean you had the same thought but processed it differently? I’m not clear what you mean, because surely anybody who was aware he was from Syrian must have had that thought, right?

If some nutbag shoots, THEN it’s the gun? More people are stabbed to death with a knife every year that the so called “assault rifle” kills in a year. How many DUI’s are there in a year? @Areyou kiddingme You’re being a little overly dramatic. Prior to COVID-19 which drastically reduced personal travel, approximately 40,000 people died annually from motor vehicle collisions. Most recently that number dropped two in the neighborhood of 36,000. In 2019/5000 people died from choking on food. According to the FBI, UCR in 2018, 1515 people died from cutting by knives. 443 people died from being hit by hammer or clubs and 692 people died by being hit with fish or feet.
