Motive In Boulder Shooting Still Remains Unknown | Morning Joe | MSNBC

  1. “Unknown” what his motive is? “Mental health issues” again? Anyone really need to guess what this killer’s politics are?

    1. @TheDiamond2009 you’re narrowing the problem on one specific individual, or his origin, when this is much broader and you know this if you’re as sophisticated as you said. I called you a rube, get over it

    2. Remy, this doesn’t require any sophistication at all, it’s a very simple and straightforward question, designed to demonstrate how our brains operate. Did you not, as the vast majority of people probably did, immediately think that it might be connected to Joe’s bombing of Syria, as some form of retribution, when they said he originated from Syria?

If so, just say it, there’s no shame. It’s just how we operate, we can’t control these things.

    3. @TheDiamond2009 not in the same way you apparently all did. every shooter has their own personal insane motives. Damaged people shouldn’t have access to guns so easy. It’d be nice

    4. Remy, I think we agree that all shooters have the odd slate loose here and there, and that it’s abhorrent, as is all violence in my view, regardless of whether people think there is a just cause. So we think the same in that respect.

I’m just not clear what you mean when you say you didn’t think of it in the same way as we did. Do you mean you had the same thought but processed it differently? I’m not clear what you mean, because surely anybody who was aware he was from Syrian must have had that thought, right?

    5. I certainly did, I’ll admit. It was the very first thought that came into my head. That’s just the way the brain works.

  2. I could tell the judge blocked the law of banning assault rifle is to be blamed for the incident there

    1. hey, people need their assault rifles to do non-assault type activities. And if they need it today, by God, they’ll have it today. Who cares about pesky background checks, criminal and health evaluations and delay on purchase? That’s nonsense

    2. Assault rifles? Should he have said, you are right, we will ban all assault weapons? Well, there goes, EVERYTHIN. Anything you pick up and hurt someone else with is an ASSAULT WEAPON. The so called assault weapons that YOU and others have been brainwashed about were banned in the 30’s.

    1. J Green facts and evidence? There are both to my claims of more than a dozen and approx $1.6B in damages in Seattle. Wtf are you talking about?

    2. Al Lissas’ family are anti-Ba’athist socialist and anti- Assad, more than likely are right wing fundamentalist.

  3. Common sense gun laws look like; if you have any charge of violence, you must pass a psychiatric evaluation.

    1. @ManexCorp Last person? Good, I want hear it anymore then. Also I own ZERO guns. NONE, last gun I had was a .22 when i was 12. I’m 53. Did 12 years in the Army. I now dozens of people with a ton of guns and not once has those guns hurt a human being. Why is it that if a Cop kills someone or just shoots someone, it’s the COP. If some nutbag shoots, THEN it’s the gun? More people are stabbed to death with a knife every year that the so called “assault rifle” kills in a year. How many DUI’s are there in a year? How many are killed due to drunk drivers? Do we punish EVERYONE and take away cars? How many die from txting and driving? Do we ban phones? Do we talk about lawsuits against Android phones? Iphones?

    2. Who is going to give the psychiatrists an evaluation to make sure they don’t have “issues”?

  4. We need mental health check to own a gun to be President to be in Congress, Senate and you need an EKG verifiable evidence of a heart an IQ test verifiable evidence of Independence.

    1. @Catherine Hendrickson no doubt about it but this is what the political class were concerned with which is why they removed a robust mental health provision out of the Brady bill.

    2. YOU people DONT WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE. KILLERS. 42,000 AMERICANS died by firearm in 2020 ALONE. DEAD. DECEASED. GONE. You love your firearms more than you love YOURSELVES. And the ONLY ONES who can’t see it, is YOU.

    3. @Areyou kiddingme You’re being a little overly dramatic. Prior to COVID-19 which drastically reduced personal travel, approximately 40,000 people died annually from motor vehicle collisions. Most recently that number dropped two in the neighborhood of 36,000. In 2019/5000 people died from choking on food. According to the FBI, UCR in 2018, 1515 people died from cutting by knives. 443 people died from being hit by hammer or clubs and 692 people died by being hit with fish or feet.

    1. @Seventy8 As an example, look how the lamestream media covered for Omar Mateen at the nightclub. They tried to pass him off as a regular garden variety nut. Politicians, through bad policy decisions going back several administrators have brought religious zealots into the United States. And these Jay-O’s in media want to know how this one happened ?
      🗣

    2. @William McGeehan there are tens of millions of religious zealots in the US. Most of y’all have replaced Jesus with Trump. You worship Trump like the second coming and are mentally unstable.
How do you feel about Robert Aaron Long? White Hero?

  5. OH lets feel sorry for this murder because he was called named as a teenager. This make me sick, he’s a murder from another country.

    1. Exactly but hey! If you mention anything about him being from Syria every snowflake and their sister get furious and began the whole “mental health issue “ BS

    1. It this country “terrorist” classification is reserved for foreign nationals or people that are part of an organization that can be then attacked in retaliation.
This guy seems a lone murderer at the moment.

  6. Motive?!?!? How about just insanity be the reason. There is so much of this going on. Violence from people who are unbalanced. Mental health is a serious problem and not enough is done to address this. 🤦🏻‍♀️

  7. A background check throwing up mental health issues/history of arrest for violence may have delayed /prevented the purchase of this firearm.

    1. @ღSwnsasyღ _ Um… Go try to buy a gun without doing a background check and let me know how that works out.

    2. @Nick Dionne These two just did!! What are you talking about? They both did and no check performed! The guy in Georgia bought is AR the day of! Did you not hear that part hon?

    3. @ღSwnsasyღ _ then it was an illegal purchase. You can’t legally purchase a firearm from an ffl with out a background check. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ all my firearms required background checks and sometimes I had to wait days for that to come back.

    4. @ღSwnsasyღ _ passing a law that already pretty much exists will do nothing to solve this issue , it was clearly failure of the store

    5. You can’t even get a job flipping burgers at McDonald’s without one but HERE HAVE SOME DEADLY FORCE NO QUESTIONS ASKED smh

    1. @Laura Young I’m not trying to create trouble. Trouble already exists. I’m trying to get you and your leftist pals to pull your heads out of your rectums.

    2. @Moe Zura you are not going to do it that way. Your world is in trouble all right, why dose Canada, Sweden, Finland, Italy, France, just to name a few not having this crisis. Plus have medical for all, higher min. Wage and not to mention regular checks while in lock down.

    3. + government that attacks other country and kills their people of course they don’t let media show that. America has too many blood on their hands

    4. @Laura Young you can’t compare those countries with the USA.
      USA 300 plus million people.
      France 60mill etc etc.

    5. @Laura Young you aren’t quite frightened enough… watch more television – you need to live every moment in pure FEAR.

  8. This mess is our failure. Not funding mental health is a huge part of it. Until we develop empathy for our fellow human beings, this will continue.

    1. @J Green That has never worked throughout history. That’s like slapping your child to teach him to quit hitting.

  9. His brother said he suffered from paranoid delusions, tried to get him help for so many years but, you know this country.. No money, no help.. Stop and think about how many lives could be saved if we just implemented M4A like every other developed nation…

    1. @Bryan Machin 300 million plus illegals.
      I’m not so sure.
A starting point I feel would be at the very least and wouldn’t effect the second amendment.
Would be to have more hoops to jump through before being able to purchase a firearm.

    2. @Geee Jjjj Yeah, I’m with you there! Republicans seem to be quite sure that “jumping through hoops” will limit voting. Why shouldn’t they believe it will also limit easy access to assault weapons.

    3. @Geee Jjjj Was I unclear? On the one hand, they WANT everyone jumping through hoops (voting); on the other, they are completely against jumping through hoops (purchasing guns). I was agreeing with you, except I don’t know how you pass such legislation without SOME Republican support!

    4. @Bryan Machin Republicans have stated many times that mental illness and firearm purchasing needs to be looked at.
The problem I see is there’s no middle ground when it comes to Republicans and Demorcrats.
And the voting issues is a whole different topic.
