The Senate is expected to vote on the confirmation of Agriculture secretary nominee Tom Vilsack at around 2:15 p.m. ET Tuesday, according to the Democratic majority's website.

Biden's relationship with Vilsack goes back decades.
A source familiar with the selection said Vilsack was chosen partly because of the nation's heightened hunger crisis and need to ensure someone was ready to run the department on day one.
