They don’t call him the Teflon Don for nothing. You know he’ll walk.
A silent vote is cowardly. These elected officials felt compelled to run for office because ideally, they believed so strongly about holding office and the importance of that office, that they felt nobody could possibly do a better job then they could. If they felt this strongly, they should now stand tall, very publicly, and very clearly be counted. They are leaders. Their constituents rightfully expect to know where they stand on this upcoming vote. There is no place for cowards on this point. Cowards should strongly consider resigning, and if not, the electorate will make their own assessment on election day if they run for relelection.

And after this, 44 GOP Senators – Senators who made a solemn oath to uphold their constitutional duty – voted “no” knowing _full well_ that the trial is absolutely and without question not only constitutional, but is their _required duty_ to hold. That is the character of the GOP Senators who defiled our democracy by entering the Senate chamber today.
@Sparks Fire and Baling Wire You’re wrong. It says the Chief Justice presides when impeaching “The” President. Not a former President, and not a judge, and not a Senator. “The” President, and ONLY when it is “the” President. And the purpose is so there’s no conflict of interest when the VP would otherwise preside as they could make a decision they would benefit from. It’s academic. That was actually covered in the opening statements. You should watch them, and you should probably read up on the Constitution you purport to know so well.

@Carl Sagan Nowhere does the constitution allow for the democrats double standards. Trump WAS President when the articles of impeachment were filed. Therefore, the chief Justice should preside over the trial. If he is no longer President, then you are impeaching a private citizen, which is unconstitutional. You can’t have it both ways.
