As an Englishman I think her prose is excellent, imagine being her age and not only having to perform but to have to write and then perform that work on such a stage. Still that’s why she’s Laureate, talented young lady.
She is talking about my America. She is talking about our America. She expressed so deeply and fervently what my children and their children–and the whole world–will know to be true and just.

“Delusional Danny” wouldn’t have a clue what they meant. He had a repertoire of probably less than 150 words and that was the limit of both his verbal ability and his understanding. Everything he ever said were variations on the same few limited sentences.

I am not a American and not a fan of America–especially after these past 4 years–but her poem is what you need and speaks about you at your best. It also is a poem we in other countries can take and apply to ourselves. An instant classic.
