Why Trump Is Barring California From Setting Own Vehicle Emission Standards | Velshi & Ruhle | MSNBC

  1. Trumpo is doing this for the base. The base are a bunch of moronic idiots. There science comes from Trumpo, Fox and the oil industry. In other words, they do not believe in science.

    1. @JAMES WHITT China is very much headed for zero emissions, just not tomorrow. Just because they can’t shut every coal plant and take every gas car off the road tomorrow doesn’t mean it’s not happening. Nice smug condescension though.

    2. @Marshal Giggleman so if all you Californians are buying Tesla’s in record numbers and are all conscientious about air quality , why do you need the government to mandate regulation ?

    3. @Carlos Carlos P.P.S. I agree with Bill Gates who says the solar and wind energy tax credits need to end since they have effectively done their job and driven down cost where they can now compete. It’s time to have incentives for grid scale battery storage and offshore wind. I also think the government should fund construction of high voltage backbone cables to connect our separate regional grids and also to connect them to remote places where renewable energy is most easily harvested such as deserts, mountain passes, and offshore areas. I think that infrastructure should be federal govt property, just like the interstate highways (and Trump’s wall apparently).

    4. @Marshal Giggleman those are interesting ideas but a bit off topic . This story is more about auto emissions in California

  2. WTF Obama envy at its finest! All you have to do is fly into cities that don’t have any emission standards, you can see the green, brown stagnant air for miles. People in those cities have to wear masks to protect their lungs. This is indicative of the future be damned philosophy that seems to be prevalent in USA today.

    1. Kick out some of the illegal immigrants – problem solved. And no, I’m not going to explain the obvious to you – rise to the occasion

    2. @Annie Obama is incapable of making shoe strings, unless his puppet masters moved his hands for him. Obama. What a turd.

  3. Anyone else think that Trump’s only goal is to sow chaos into the world, create global instability, divide nations and races, and destroy the planet in the process?
America, did you learn the lessons from the past election?

  4. *The whole world is laughing at Little Donny Fail-Fail. And now, even the TALIBAN is laughing at Little Donny Fail-Fail.*
*The whole world is laughing at his mentally defective MAGAtrash fans, too.*

  5. No way California let’s this slide. I hope they fight this HARD. The Trump administration has NO good reason for doing this.

    1. @9753flyer Kind of like when Obama’s “justice department” told Arizona that they could not enforce their own border laws. Despite the fact that they were identical to the federal ones (which weren’t even being enforced at the time).

    2. @SPacy sam aku holT You do realize that an amendment may be proposed either by the Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate or by a constitutional convention called for by two-thirds of the State legislatures to change the constitution.

    1. StoneC0ld5345👈🤔 I live in Louisiana we have state rights why should I buy a vehicle that says California emission control test pass. I do not live in California your taking my state emission control rights away from me. Why should Louisiana and any other state have to pay for a California state emission. I have Louisiana state emission rights. Typical Democratic tax to manipulate the American people to pay for California emission control. I do not live in California so why should I be taxed for California emission. I have Louisiana state rights.

    2. @bobo wheeler

Thank you for proving my point that red states apparently have state’s rights and blue states apparently do not.

    3. @bobo wheeler

And, for the record, I don’t believe there was ever any rule or law that REQUIRED the auto manufacturers to include California emissions standards on every single vehicle sold across the entire country. I’m sure they could have made separate options for their vehicles to add a “non-California-friendly” option, under the simple proviso that you’re not allowed to drive into California with such a vehicle (not that any diehard Trump worshiper would ever visit any blue state in today’s political environment, anyway).

  6. yes more dirty air is exactly what is needed as profits at money-making hospitals will see their profits soar.

    1. Wake up, cruise ships, factories, airplanes, aircraft carriers pollute more. Cars have nothing to do in comparison

    2. Well his lord and lover.. China’s self made dictator… Has the worse air quality. He has to do everything better than him!

    1. @DLR Please enlighten us to the FACTS that you supposedly lead us to?…see my links I posted…..LINK some posts that show your so called “FACTS”

    2. @White Jesus

Point out one lie I told. Its funny how you accuse ME of lying when I point out yet another lie from the TDS left. Thats projection by definition.
Politifact is just another left wing nutjob site that has lost its credibility. You are just using the same BS the media does – one org (e.g. WaPo) posts some BS, then it gets paroted by other nutjob left wingers like CNN, and within a week, there are 10 left wing nut job orgs paroting it like its a fact.

Truth is determined by facts and reasoned arguements, not by referencing someone else’s opinion.

  7. First step to change is acknowledging change is imperative to survival. We have better technology now let’s use the best and retire the old stuff before it kills us.

    1. One other reason…

      Obama.

It doesnt matter how good or bad anything is, if it was put in place by Obama, its Trumps job to make it go away…

McConnell and Trump are determined to erase the black president…. its simple as that.

    1. If the USA doesn’t want it’s car manufacturers selling their cars around the world, just keep listening to Trump….low emissions and fuel efficiency are prerequisites for almost 90% of people buying cars around the world. The UK only recently started selling US car brands in any significant numbers, that would end almost immediately!

    2. @berenjervin Just read the global surveys by statista, do a little simple maths and even those with tiny brains can work it out…..65% of Americans think fuel efficiency is the most important thing when buying a new car…..let alone places like India, China, Japan and Europe where people are more aware of the environment and need for efficiency.

  8. While the rest of the car manufacturers are putting out more streamlined fuel efficient vehicles SpankyPants wants gas guzzlers. Mercedes Benz, BMW & Audi & Volkswagon are going to roll out electric cars within a couple of years to be followed by the Chinese shortly thereafter. This will leave America way behind. Ps. I drive & prefer German & Japanese cars over American gas guzzlers.

    1. Uh, Chinese electric are already out within mainland China and their range is near the top of the list, considerably more than what many makers you mention have in line to be built. The other way a good percentage of makers who focus on Europe appear to be going is hydrogen cell electric hybrid (many of those with way shorter fully “recharge” times than best current electric only).

    2. You have a perfect right to drive whatever car you want and so should everyone else. Let the free market decide what cars people wish to drive. Where do you think the electricity to charge an electric car comes from? It comes from fossil fuel burning power plants for the most part so more electric cars is just a feel good pie in the sky scheme to make people feel like they are doing something to help the environment.

  9. Before emissions regulations, the air in California was yellow and there were days when people could not be outside more than twenty minutes at a time. It is a public health issue.

    1. Yep, back in the 80s the air down there looked like pea soup.
….and I totally forgot about the acid rain that came from that pollution.

    1. Wake up, cruise ships, factories, airplanes, aircraft carriers pollute more. Cars have nothing to do in comparison

    2. @ϟϟ White Wolf ϟϟ You are full of it. There are many more cars than there are these other things you mentioned and in congested areas like Los Angeles all this pollution causes serious health problems. Why is it that Trump supporters always come up with the dumbest excuses for the Orange Liar? Perhaps the same reason you used Nazi SS signs before and after your name? Ignorance.
