Moscow Mitch did not actually say it was a lie, he gave himself room to back track saying. “I don’t recall” speaking with the president about this. He is still afraid of Trump and he is too involved to not know that he is jeopardy, no matter which direction he goes. He is waiting for Trump to be powerless within the party before he blatantly jumps ship. Right now he is staring at the water below the rails of the ship.
