THOUSANDS OF DOMINICANS SET TO BENEFIT FROM VISIT OF UNITED STATES MEDICAL TEAM FROM JUNE 16TH -25T

Roseau, Dominica – June 11, 2008…….. Hundreds of Dominicans are set to receive free medical care in the areas of medicine, dentistry and optometry through the Medical Readiness Training Exercise (MEDRETE) –   an initiative of the United States Army Reserves.  

 

In collaboration with the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, personnel from the United States Army Reserves will provide free primary health care for up to eight hundred Dominicans daily for the period Monday, June 16th 2008 to Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at locations in Grand Bay, Roseau, Castle Bruce and Marigot.

 

A Pre-Deployment Site Survey (PDSS) team visited Dominica in February, 2008 and conducted meetings with various government agencies to discuss the programme in detail.

 

In preparation for the administering of the MEDRETE programme, ten (10) Americans are currently on island with another thirty-three (33) to follow.

 

An opening ceremony is carded for Monday, June 16, 2008 at 10am at the Castle Bruce Primary School. A press conference will take place on Friday, June 13, 2008, starting at 10am in the Conference Room at Police Headquarters.
