Bolton probably wishes he never left, but he is gone and Trump will never send more troops into the country, that is his MO. Iran is Shi’a Iraq’s closest ally in the Arab civil war and they are cooperating with them as they send troops to Syria, if the US stopped sending the billions in bribes to the politicians there they would be our enemy and we would probably be contemplating sanctions. This is a country with vast resources not a terrorist group on a shoe string budget, they have closer emotional ties with Iraq than imperial US could ever dream of. They are probably capable of doing anything, any place within the country, there is no green zone when it comes to their allies within the country. US officials should be cautious visiting the country because there may be agents with plans to be executed if they ever have the opportunity, maybe we will be lucky and Trump will be the guy they get.
