And getting disability and medicare takes on average OVER TWO YEARS in the US and is very complex. Two years is a lot of time to get worse and die, or for a condition that was treatable to progress to being terminal.

@Mr. & Mrs SmithI used to work for job and family services and actually there is no wait to get on Medicaid. So if you are poor or out of work you can get covered immediately. It’s called temporary coverage and it lasts 3 months while the paperwork for official coverage goes through. Medicaid is full coverage too including free rides to appointments and no co pays. It’s excellent coverage. And application is only a couple pages and everything over the phone. I don’t understand why we can’t just opt to pay like $50 a month and buy into Medicaid. I would!
