Sanders To Bloomberg: ‘You Ain’t Gonna Buy This Election’ | MSNBC

At an Iowa rally on Saturday night, Senator Bernie Sanders directed a message towards former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg: "Sorry, you ain't gonna buy this election." This came after Bloomberg filed for the 2020 Democratic primary in Alabama.

Sanders told NBC's Shaquille Brewster "I think the American people are sick and tired of billionaires continuing to have so much influence over the economic life in this country and the political life in this country."» Subscribe to MSNBC:

    1. Crypto Database, recently released data shows that the three wealthiest Americans have more money than the lower 50% of ALL Americans. Three individuals with more wealth than 165 million Americans combined.. Do you think that’s healthy for our society?

    2. Andrew Mastin Bernie Sanders sucks at math. He said if we taxed Bill Gates 100 Billion we could end homelessness and provide everyone in the country with clean drinking water. Never mind the fact that the US spends TEN TIMES THAT AMOUNT every single budget year on programs that fight poverty, and we STILL have homelessness.

  1. I really don’t like the idea of Bloomberg entering, but if he is going to do it he should at least have the decency to not tilt the scales with his own money. The only way to give power back to the people is by eliminating big money in politics and buying the office, shouldn’t be tolerated by todays Democratic party.

    1. @Ioma checkers Although I agree that Hillary outspent Trump last election, Trump benefited from a billion dollars of free air time from all the networks because he drew ratings. One time they all showed an empty podium waiting for Trump to arrive and pretended that Bernie’s large crowd at that same time didn’t exist and therefore no coverage of it.
That being said, Bloomberg could spend billions on TV ads and end up like Howard Shultz whose ratings could be seen only through the Hubble telescope.

    2. @KT Chong Yang is a fake Progressive , he is a Moderate on policy & Tulsi has been more & more agreeable with the ReichWing.

    1. @Wilhelm Geisler every developed rich nation has a form of Medicare for all Single Payer system… Ruin American Corporate Greed, but net benefit to American citizen pockets.

    2. Phead128 HERE’S A GOOD IDEA FOR LEMMINGS LIKE YOU….BUY THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE…JUMP OFF THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE…MAKE SURE YOUR POCKETS ARE FULL OF KILLERYS STOLEN URANIUM!!! MORON!!!

    3. @Wilhelm Geisler All Israelis have it. But you must love keeping all those life insurance company CEO’s rich.

    1. It’s just for “playing nice”. If he ever made it past the primaries, he would face the same opposition as Evo Morales faced because his policies would not be a “right fit” for the bankers and corporations.

    2. @Bradley Miller Sanders alludes to that aspect (in his speech) skip IA, skp NH and NV …. And it is a relevant point. Just throwing the money around in the large states. He does not want to win, he just thinks he can pick up some delegates to spoil a Sanders win in the first round.

    1. @Burger WithEverything Maybe Bloomberg sees that he has just as good a chance at winning compared to the mess that’s left over to this point. lol

    1. @Ashley Drew Jackson

Bernie already proved himself a viable candidate as the Democratic runner-up in the 2016 presidential campaign, finishing at 46% to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s 54%, consistently outraising Clinton on the 2016 campaign trail. He continues to outraise many of his 2020 opponents; his campaign announced that it had raised $25.3 million in 2019’s third quarter, outdoing Biden, Pete Buttigieg, and Kamala Harris.

Looks like a winner to me.

  2. This is the first time I’ve seen MSNBC back Bernie even though he’s a major front runner. Notice that every time they report on Bernie, the reporter can’t help be but intrigued by his crowd size. Bernie is big!

    1. @83jdc1 guess what?..?….you can send as much $$$ to the IRS as you want! There’s NOTHING stopping YOU or the commie from giving the IRS as much as you want… Ooo….I think he wants buy a fourth house with YOUR $ …..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    2. Bernie Sanders is just another old white guy commie from NY that lives as far from minorities as he can get in all THREE of his houses all the while railing against the life style he lives him self. AOC is just as fake. She grew up in cushy York Town Heights..NOT the Bronx. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!

    3. @sal been No, while it is true that we have a de jure representative republic, in reality we have a de facto oligarchy, in which the wealthiest individuals have extensive control over our political system. They have gained this power through legalized bribery in the form of campaign contributions and lobbying. What Bernie is planning on doing is simply converting our current oligarchy into what the founding fathers wanted our political system to be, a representative republic of the people, by the people, for the people. The route to achieving this is simple, and whether you are a conservative or not I think we can agree, we need to make bribery and corruption illegal. Only then can the people, liberal or conservative, have their views heard over the views of Wall Street.

    1. @David M If you want to support the criminal in the white house, that’s your business. But patriotic citizens like myself want a president who’s trustworthy, honest and committed to serving the country and not just his own interests. Trump is NOT that president, no matter how much you try to spin reality.

  3. Bernie will win. Warren and Biden will never defeat Trump. Bernie has a chance with the poor and the working class who voted for Trump

    1. @Colson Wes But you continue to support Trump’s corporate socialism. You must love paying for all those huge tax cuts for the rich. You never hear the rich complain about corporate socialism.

    2. @Trampuskeen Keen You’re for “The Swamp” if you vote for Trump. You must love being a slave for the elites. You support free handouts for billionaires, mega-corporations, and Wall Street.

Only Bernie Sanders fights for the working class. You never see Billionaires cry on live TV because of Trump. Bernie and Elizabeth Warren taxes on the rich make them cry.

    1. It really shouldn’t be news, but here we are. I want Yang to win this thing, but the field should be shrinking, not expanding.

    2. Jay Gibson YOU LEFT OUT “JEW” WHEN YOU WROTE “BILLIONAIRE”!!! BERNIE IS “ONLY” A MILLIONAIRE…WHICH IS WHY HE IS MOANING!!! MAGA! TRUMP 2020!
AND…NO…BERNIE WAS NOT NOT NOT GETTING “QUITE A BIT” OF SUPPORT. THESE PUKE FAKERS ON MSM REALLY TRY HARD TO KEEP THEIR LIES ALIVE!!!

    1. @Donna Lands What’s wonderful about poetry is that it is rarely written for an audience – it’s written for the author, like a little indulgence. So, unlike prose, it is more immune to outside criticism. Do I think the rhyme scheme a bit basic? Perhaps, but its balanced with your effective use of repetition: “The English Lady sent to cry/Eclipse of paradise-Spirits fly”. A repetition that to me feels organic and not forced.

It is easy to tell that you wrote this from a place of heartache. I am sorry you lost your daughter; I am not sure what I would do if I lost mine. Thank you for sharing this with me.

    1. @Marcela C I’m not a democrat either. I’m an independent. So is Bernie. You’re further showing that you don’t know what you’re talking about. Sadly our system of government forces candidates to run as either democrats or republicans if they want any real shot of winning, but the high up dems are not Bernie supporters. He should’ve won last year and probably would’ve if he didn’t have his own party against him.

    2. @jreds no not really. He’s a socialist. He stands with those evil Demon RATS. Green new deal. No thank you. I don’t want to destroy America.

    3. @Marcela C I believe in a lot of conservative political values. I don’t think government should play a huge role in our day to day lives. I believe in individuality and the idea that every person can become successful if they work hard enough. I hold a lot of values that you probably do too. The thing is that when you give it some thought you realize that conservative economics don’t support political or social conservatism. Today there exists the largest corporations in American history, even when you go back to the late 1800s, when there were no anti-trust laws and the middle class was practically non-existent. Lobbying in our government is more rampant than ever. Look at who’s donating to some of the other candidates and tell me if we can expect them to make any serious positive change. Here’s what our economic system has created to date. We have a congress run by huge corporations dishing out immense sums of money to our senators, in order to protect their own corrupt operations. There are 4 massive corporations that own like 95% of all for profit media Think about the amount of power the media holds. Currently there are richer corporations/individuals than the world has ever seen. Money is power and the fact that the richest 1% of people owns more proportionally than ever in our nations’ history is scary. If you fear totalitarianism, you should fear oligarchy. If Jeff Bezos and Wall St corps being taxed an extra 0.5% bothers you, vote for Biden. Vote for Harris. Vote for Trump. Otherwise, maybe you should stop playing for a team, stop looking at whether a candidate’s tie is blue or red, and start thinking for yourself. Economics are a spectrum and we haven’t lived in a true capitalist society since before Woodrow Wilson. Maybe the corruption conservatives — or all Americans, for that matter — should fear isn’t where you would think.

      Sorry for the long essay

  4. “We want to be fair and cover Bernie Sanders.”
“Fine, but don’t you DARE give him even THREE MINUTES of coverage.”
“No worries, we’ll only keep at around 2 minutes and 40 seconds.”

    Eh, better than nothing. #Bernie2020

    1. @Nathan Purvis That is basically the 2016 election, either you vote 3rd party or you vote for a massively corrupt, pro war, Neo Liberal, experienced politician or a reality TV star, anti war, climate change denier, who is also massively corrupt. Not the best options.

    2. @Nathan Purvis He only “supported” her begrudgingly too little and too late. Tons of his followers got the message and either boycotted the election or threw away their votes for Jill Stein out of spite.

  5. Bernie is really has the best chance to defeat Trump in 2020 out of every democratic candidate. Of course, it’s no guarantee he wins, but he’s the best hope.

    1. Yes. Its guaranteed he wins against Trump. The only problem is getting him there.. the DNC ( and the corporate owned media )want another rich corporate shill..
Bernie against Trump would be a knockout.. Trump down within 2 rounds.

  6. I have to admit the mans has spirit even the democrats do not want him running last election proved that hopefully they will give him a fair shake this time but I doubt it and I’m willing to listen to his policies
