Prince Andrew steps back from royal duties

Prince Andrew has said that the Queen has given him permission to step back from public duties "for the foreseeable future" following a firestorm of criticism over an interview about his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, the Duke of York said he "unequivocally" regretted his relationship with the disgraced financier and was willing to aid in any ongoing investigations.
"It has become clear to me over the last few days that the circumstances relating to my former association with Jeffrey Epstein has become a major disruption to my family's work and the valuable work going on in the many organizations and charities that I am proud to support," Prince Andrew said.
"Therefore, I have asked Her Majesty if I may step back from public duties for the foreseeable future, and she has given her permission."
A royal source told CNN that the Duke of York took the decision to step back from public duties following discussion with the Queen, Prince of Wales and others. The source said the decision was for the best, and that nothing was more important to any of the family than the institution itself.

    1. They are useless, FIRE all the royals!! they are useless and living off the taxpayers money to have luxurious lifestyle. Taking advantage from poor suffering tax payers money without remorse. Just give the money straight to charity!! Instead of giving them jobs to wave and hand shake in certain events. There are real heroes who do it for free.

    1. @Sarah Petty There are many powerful men that went there and Clinton and Andrew are just 2 of those powerful men.

    2. Fire them all. They are useless, FIRE all the royals!! they are useless and living off the taxpayers money. Their privileges and elite rich lifestyles are all from the poor suffering tax payer. Just give the money straight to charity!! Instead of giving them the job

    3. US Senator John Kennedy: ‘Christmas ornaments, drywall,’ and Jeffrey Epstein are three things that do not hang themselves.” As one of the guards may turn states’ evidence.

    1. @pj moseley how can you explain how prince andrew hasn’t been charged yet? We have a young woman saying unequivocally that he raped her when she was 17, we have a picture of him with her while she was 17 and he didn’t deny raping her, just said he didn’t remember. If andrew was a catholic priest, for example, he’d already be locked up.

    1. There is a literal picture of Andrew with the victim, and you Trump sucking fucktards are trying to deflect away from it.

    2. In late 1999 and early 2001 Prince Andrew, Donald Trump, and Bill Clinton, Bill Gates where at a big dinner party with Jeffrey Epstein at his home in New York and at Maro Largo in Florida and on Epstein Island along with Bill Barr it’s not just Clinton it’s also Donald Trump with Prince Andrew

    1. @Billy Bender Seems like nothing is ever good enough for some people, but I knew exactly what you meant, and it looks like so did almost everyone else. 😉👍

    1. @Michel Larabie Are you stupid? Epstein was convicted as a pedophile. Right after, he hung out with Prince Andrew and partied with him for 4 days. Research before you just utter nonsense.

    1. Francis – I’m writing that one down my friend. “The duck is as dirty as a coal miner’s underpants.” Love it!!

    1. @Robert Clawson Donald Trump was involved with Epstein as well and allegedly raped a 13 year old girl at Epstein’s mansion in Manhattan.

    2. @Valore Dramack if there is proof, then it must be exposed but if it is hearsay, then join the hearsay club.

    3. Valore, Trump ordered Epstein to be thrown out of his hotel as soon as he discovered he was a pedo years ago. Randy Andy kept staying at Epstein’s house after he was a convicted pedo. Your lies about Trump and a little girl can be added to the one about the Russian hookers peeing on him and filed under B for bullshit.

    1. Even thou the 2 guards obviously fucked up. The murder of Epstein was ordered from the very top. The warden of that prison made sure he placed the 2 most stupid and lazy guards that he wanted to get ride off on that cell block.

    1. What I don’t like about the “royals” is their in-bred nature. You can see how opposed some Brits are to Harry’s marriage to Meghan. This idea of marrying “royals” breeds indifference and entitlement. No one has to “work,” not really…Not when you arrive home and can be served by household staff.
The best thing that happened to the royal family has been Harry’s marriage to Meghan. unfortunately, Kate’s focus is on becoming queen one day so she just melds into the royal woodwork without a thought of her own. Sad, because she’s educated and a good person.
Otherwise, I think having some kind of continuity for the country is good but their “perks” need to be shaved back quite a bit – a lot actually!

    2. S. Gillespie it’s actually sad the way the media goes after Meghan. Her and Harry really do a good job at charity work. They bring in the most money to their charities and they are really loved in the Commonwealth countries they serve. They don’t have swank palace charity dinners like Andrew only does; they do a lot of ground work meeting with the poor, homeless, and military people. I’ve always heard Prince Charles and Andrew never got along? I wonder if Andrew is just spoiled? The Queen put the most pressure on Charles. Maybe it’s time for the Queen to retire?

  1. The amount of money he is paid for his “duties” probably isn’t even worth their value to the British people.
