President Donald Trump emerged vindictive and angry at a rambling, mostly mean-spirited event meant to mark his impeachment acquittal.
To Trump's backers, the event amounted to a release of justified fury after five months under a cloud of impeachment.
But any Republican who hoped he'd learned lessons from his experience was likely disabused of the notion as he railed against his rivals and insisted he'd done nothing wrong.
There was no indication he planned to adopt a new approach following the ordeal. Instead, Trump spent more than an hour bouncing between disparate injustices and angry asides.
