This does not distract from issues effecting the public. This IS the fundamental issue that effects the Democratic Republic! Nothing could or should be more important to voters than to protect the electoral process. There’s no need to vote for representatives if the sanctity of elections is not protected.

So here’s the thing you have to understand about Trump’s personality. His formative years growing up in Queens, New York, put him at a disadvantage to his more privileged and more wealthy peers in other boroughs of New York City. They looked down on him as the poor outsider from Queens. This is why his personality is prone to exaggerating things. This personality “quirk” was well understood from people outside of New York and clearly on example during his show “Apprentice”.
Don’t take him literally on his words, but do search out for his words in context, and then take his words more seriously. No soundbites and read.

Trump didn’t leverage the full force of his office as President to extort the Ukrainian President into doing sham investigations into the Bidens.
He did it to extort the Ukrainians into just ANNOUNCING the investigations!
That’s a HUGE difference.
If he expected for a SECOND that the investigations would actually take place, he could more easily use the, “Trump is genuinely concerned about Ukrainian corruption.” defense, but he CAN’T.
Because he only ever required they publicly announce the investigations, so he could have a 2020 version of, “Hillary’s E-mails.”
He has no strategy. He can only win by CHEATING.
JUST like he did in 2016, and he’ll do again given the chance.
That’s why impeachment is SO critical.
We can’t just, “wait until the elections,” and, “Let the American people decide,” when what he’s doing is abusing his power to SUBVERT the elections in the first place!
Because of Trump, we can no longer have faith in arguably our most sacred, fundamental democratic process.
And, because of the standard it would set should he not be held accountable, and gets away with it, it’s absolutely imperative that Congress at least makes the impeachment process available.
It’s possible, however unlikely, their patriotism overrides their personal loyalty.
And, if it doesn’t, it should be made abundantly clear that whatever precedent is set will, in the future, be the new standard for ALL Presidents to follow.
Trump was willing to sacrifice American national security in the service of his own personal domestic political aspirations.
The Republican sycophants need to be reminded CONSTANTLY that it may be a Democrat doing the same thing next time.
