Panic’: Trump Team ‘Freestyling’ Impeachment Defense After Evidence Goes Public | MSNBC

The Trump White House is struggling to defend the Ukraine call as Democrats pass a historic impeachment vote setting the stage for public hearings. Julian Epstein, former counsel to House Judiciary Committee, argues Republicans and Trump have ‘no idea’ how to combat the impeachment process, and are unsure on if they should play ‘an offensive or defensive strategy.’ Epstein adds Trump is ‘freestyling’ his response to the mounting evidence, while GOP allies are ‘making up’ their strategy as ‘they go along.’ Aired on 11/01/19.

    1. Invoke the 25th Amendment. He’ll still be convicted….by the SDNY. Pence can only pardon him for federal crimes, not state ones. So, I’m banking on NYS to throw him in jail. And he’s reviled there, so I’m pretty sure he knows he’s going into the slammer one way or another.

    1. Trump: “this is so unfair – is biggest witch hunt in history, I’m not a crook”

      Nixon: “I’m not a crook but please Don’t stand so close to me – I don’t want to be hit by your lightning”

    2. My IQ is No.People Who Care about IQ akaBrainfreeze there all Crooks if you ask me he’s just the most honest crook who believes he’s not a crook thanks he’s not like the other Crooks he’s the kettle calling the pot black

  1. “When the facts are against you, argue the law.
    When the law is against you, argue the facts.
    When the facts and the law are against you, attack your opponents, shout, and pound on the table”
    —Old legal proverb

  2. I find it unexplainable how the GOP called for the impeachment probe to be in public and allow the president to be able to confront his accusers. Yet when it comes up for a vote none of them voted for it.

  3. Republicans display: Scary soviet propaganda poster
    Democrats display: The American Flag, the symbol of our republic.
    Very revealing.

    1. @RVT But the truth will be out. The American people can make up their own minds. tRump cultists will still support him. But there may be some who support him now won’t support him after.

      Also, this will follow him to the polls. Those on the fence will have to at least look at the truth and then vote, hopefully based on the truth.

    2. @PK Cazadores The Impeachment isn’t about the 2016 faux election, which handed us the faux president. it is about his breaking the law and holding money from our allies which Congress passed and approved. Money that would pay for weapons and training to help them defend themselves against “The Russians.” if he isn’t a Russian asset, why hold the money to help defeat their agenda? If he’s not an asset, why defend what Putin says even against our own people? (We have that on video, if your interested.)
      He had no legal reason to uphold the money from Congress. He had no legal right to uphold the money. And he had no legal right to try to force Ukraine to do his bidding. All of these things are against the Constitution that we as Americans live by. He tried to usurp power by going against Congress outside of his Constitutionally mandated boundries of power. He is not part of the legislative branch of the Government. Or the Judicial. He is part of the executive branch. Remember we have three branches of Government. Executive, Legislative, Judicial. And they all keep checks and balances on each other, so that someone like tRump can’t pull off the crap he has been pulling ever since he faux won the election.

      He is not above the law. He is a United States citizen and as such is subject to the laws we all live by.

      One other thing, that whole you can’t indictate a sitting president isn’t law it is a DOJ policy and an opinion. Wish the Democrats would have remembered that when whoever first said that. We can indict a sitting president, no one has but only Congress makes laws. Not 45. 45 only helps expedite them along with everyone else. Being president of the United States is no different than being president of anybother organization. The president is supposed to keep the order and direct order, not make up his/her own order. tRump is not ordered in his own life. His own life is full of chaos, what made people think he could run a Nation? Oh yeah his hatred of non whites. That is not a good quality for electing any president. Except maybe the president of the KKK. Then that is a hood quality to have

    3. @Ellie MM And yet your Republican buddies flew a Soviet propaganda poster while trying to defend the Russian puppet. And the Democrats had an American flag while trying to defend their reasons for going ahead of with the impeachment process. WE KNOW WHO IS WHO.

      45 flies and hugs the American flag when he walks out on stage and yet tries to dismantle the Constitution so he can be king. Trust me when he is dictator/king he won’t be hugging the flag of the United States, he will be hugging either his own flag or the Russian flag while.he guts America. Hope you can still hold your head up while.he is standing on your neck.
      Because if he wins this one that is exactly what will happen. So sorry you can’t see that now.

    4. RVT Unfortunately, you may be right. Hopefully the evidence is so damning that the Republicans will have what they need to jump ship in order to save face, and then say that they too stood up for what was right. Time will tell. Fingers crossed.

    1. The history will show what he has done for the economy and black employment. The history will show his efforts to secure the borders.

    2. @BKD Vickers People on the left just dont care what Trump has done, hatred plain and simple.I can’t believe how many are okay with whats going on with this coup attempt. It’s incredible! If the left are okay with this then god help future POTUS.

    3. Let me correct that for you;
      “We should keep and protect the records so they are transparent and accessible for the future.”
      Left alone, they will be subtly changed and corrupted so that it will be debatable if Drumph was wrongfully impeached or not.

  4. “When will Republicans put the oath of office above defending the president”
    That ship done sailed quite a while ago. The real question is: when will Republicans decide that their own survival is in danger…that’s when they’ll go against trump. Ironically–or Karma-in-action– they’re screwed if they do and they’re screwed if they don’t. As these people said, Republicans have painted themselves into a corner. Sweet!

    1. Honestly, I think trump and Congress would have probably pushed legislation more, it would still be chaotic (Dems Vs GOP) in congress but not as much as it is now, and trump probably would not have run for reelection. Who knows?

  5. The trump-a-dope defense: I’m the most innocent person ever accused of anything; this is so unfair ; I shouldbe president for life like Mugabe, putin, idi Amin, my great friend lil kim, and all the world’s great leaders;

    1. Doesn’t matter. The American people will simply elected another republican. There are no options. Democrats will be playing the same political games with another republican just like they are doing now. Democrats won’t gain one vote by impeaching the president. (even though it will only be on paper. It can’t happen without both parties agreeing to it). The American people are tired of these political stunts being pulled over the last 3 years and are tired of democrats blocking everything the president tries to do. They are tired on the nonsense. Now democrats are planning on shutting down the government again.

    1. Why? Democrats fight for what’s right (like healthcare) and that’s who’s doing their level best to stop Trump and maybe even send him and his pals to prison.

      Republicans and Democrats are both political parties. But the similarities end there.

  6. Gop:”make it public!”
    Pelosi:”time to go public”
    Gop:”noooooooooooooooo”

    WTF party of law and order?
