News Anchor’s Definitive Breakdown Of Dapper Dan’s Harlem Legacy | The Beat With Ari Melber | MSNBC

The fashion icon Dapper Dan emerged from the crack epidemic, gang violence and the polarized politics of 1970s Harlem to build a globally recognized brand – only to watch fashion corporations tear it down. Then Dan reemerged with even more success through an incredible turn of events in 2017. In this definitive breakdown, MSNBC news anchor Ari Melber does deep reporting on the history of both Dan and Harlem and America’s drug wars, adding context to the unusual story of this American icon. This segment aired on MSNBC on The Beat with Ari Melber, followed by a separate interview with Dapper Dan.

  1. I bet as soon as his show was over, Ari changed into a FUBU jersey and Timb’s and left the office to smoke a blunt.

  2. (5:25) ~ Fashion Designer, Daniel Day: ” ‘Dapper Dan’s’ triumphant return” back into the Fashion Industry! 👏👏👏👏👏

    1. “They”? Melber’s show features people who do things, whether in music or fashion. I don’t know him personally, so I don’t know if he’s legit. That being said, he lives in New York, which is as diverse a city as any. So, it would be difficult not to be aware of what other people do. Regardless, it’s ‘life affirming’. Conversely, the president ‘trash talks’ anything, anyone and everything; except Putin, Kim Jong Un or Mohammed Bin Salman. So, who’s ‘race pimping’? The people who know it, if it is indeed fact; or the people who are blind, deaf and dumb to it?

  3. (1:17 – 1:31) ~ It’s even more evident that donald trump, had his annoying, meddling nose in almost everything in New York. Considering donald’s current ways now, in year 2019, July —- it’s only confirmation, that donald j. trump is not willing to renounce his racism/fascism/bigotry/xenophobia and folly; But instead, his mentality (and his fingers) is lacking moral restraint, and good character. Donald trump has increased in his hatred, and doesn’t care whom he puts in harms way.

And that’s his toxic, internal problem, and he proudly owns it. Again, “donald j. trump is unfit to be president.”

  4. I’m impressed that they were able to get all this in just a short video. Summed it up nicely.

  5. Everytime this wigger, Melber talks I get bile in my throat. He’s swallowed more black loads than Sasha Grey.

  6. This man should be named a godfather of fashion. This man created what all these brands are doing now. Gucci, Versace, Fendi, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, even Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger all do these loud logo filled prints. Even cheap brands do this: Victoria’s Secret, Forever 21, Pretty Little Things, Gap, Nike, Adidas. This man paved the way for brands like Supreme, Baby Phat, FUBU, A Bathing Ape aka Bape, Billionaire Boys Club, Chinatown Market, Anti Social Social Club, etc. This man basically created Streetwear, he created the Hypebeast culture.
