New Generation Of Voters Emerges In 2020 | Velshi & Ruhle | MSNBC

Young voters are set to have a much bigger impact on next year’s election by having a real influence on how their parents plan to vote. Axios’ Alexi McCammond, Harvard Institute of Politics Polling Director John Della Volpe, and Democratic Strategist Emily Tisch Sussman join Stephanie Ruhle to explain why that is bad news for Republicans in 2020 and beyond.

    1. @Yo-yos Tenbucks you said a mouthful about certain people. Imagine how you look to them. Maybe you have a rage/race issue that needs to be looked after. I hope you don’t own guns.

  1. It was andrew yang who teared up at campaign event, when someone told a story about their 4 year old child died from being shot by stray bullet. He related to that story so much that he became emotional.

  2. Just remember every single day, a few thousand MAGA geezers die while a few thousand Gen Z Democrats turn eighteen. Fourteen months of demographic turnover yet to go.

    1. According to 2014 numbers roughly 600 more Right voting seniors die every day than Left voting, and 1400 more Left voting youth reach voting age than Right, daily. So due to age trends, roughly 2000 votes shift leftward daily in America … BEFORE Trump came along. Now?

    2. @Jason Faulkner Thank you. I tried looking it up yesterday, but had a headache and quit before I got there. I appreciate the data.

    3. In early 2016 pollster Frank Luntz of FoxNews fame released a paper to his bosses entitled “The Youth Of America Are Terrifyingly Liberal.” He wanted to make a strong point in the title in case they didn’t look at his numbers.

    4. @Timothy Brandriff A good point. The thoughtful 15% of the Right doesn’t sit idly by while the Progressive wave inundates. But one big thing going for the InternetGen that the old playbook doesn’t account for is a much better BS Detection ability than their parents and grandparents.

    5. @Jason Faulkner Luntz was, of course, aware of Republican poor math skills and unwillingness to read. I would have preferred the title, “American Youth Are Reassuringly Liberal.”

  3. The Neo-Nazis who marched in Charlottesville screaming ” Jews will not replace us” should be more concerned with the new generation of young voters. Because they are definitely going to replace them, and the younger generation will always be more progressive.

    1. Young people will rule the world some day. Are you crazy? Older people are going to die out. Young people will rule!!

    2. @David M So now it is a communist plot for the young to grow up and replace the old? The socialist here is the one subsidizing the farmers after destroying their markets for decades to come, the one who promised to socially engineer the coal mines and factories back into existence.

  4. Gen-X voter here and THANK YOU to the Millennials who are active in the voting process! I always felt like I was generationally alone at the voting precinct, me and a bunch of the gray haired Silent generation(between Greatest and Boomers).

    1. Young voters need to think about their future. Will they have a family? Which party will raise their taxes and lower their standard of living???!!! Which party favors bigger government intrusion into their lives??? Which party is inching toward the totalitarianism we fought to crush in WWII???

    2. @RayLo RayLo
All great questions and thank YOU for a non-partisan comment! Very diplomatic! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

  5. love the generation Z- smart- conscious about extinct level events- understand the lunacy of military style assault weapons in a civilized society, and are wretchedly horrified by the evil density the people born in the 40’s and 50’s (especially). The delusional Mitch McConnells of the world are held in utter disdain and are seen as the DEATH CULT CHARACTERS that they are. Z GETS IT.

    1. Biden is being slaughtered in the polls. Just add together the numbers for Bernie and Warren… the two progressive candidates… if you want to know what Biden’s real chances are. The correct answer is that he has no chance at all.

  6. Yes. It’s about our gun culture.
We need comprehensive legislation to keep our children and grandchildren safe.

    1. Denyze This does not appear to me to be the answer. All the good people are not allowed to have guns while the criminals and psychopaths will always have them? They are not interested or affected by laws.

  7. If the Young People Don’t come Out and Vote for their Interests, they Don’t have Anyone to Blame but Themselves.

    1. No, they can blame the older generations who rigged the system against them. Voting doesn’t end corruption in Washington.

  8. If Washington is a “place where big ideas go to die,” then we need a revolution because democracy has been bought by the capitalist oligarchs.

    1. Communism is your future endeavor and you willingly agree to slavery. To hard to believe? Look at basic tactics of communism and you’ll see the main problem in the United States.

    2. @David M wage slavery in the United States is already well established. We have nothing to lose but our chains.

    3. @Matthew Condie Look at all the other countries, you have alot more to lose. You don’t know what chains are yet. Forced slavery is being setup according to the communist democratic executive orders 10990–11005 and 13603. All it takes is martial law to put that in place. Go ahead and tell me I’m wrong or just not reply like everyone else who don’t care to read their own countries laws.

    4. @Matthew Condie I know how it ends and what happens after, it’s in Revelation. I’m just trying to wake somebody up to the now and it’s God that will enlighten whoever really wants to know bad enough. In America, communism is the enemy and we have been targeted from the inside for years because we are the last free strong country and it’s working because young people don’t know history and what communism really is.

    1. I’m not convinced they’ll take the Senate. Remember those less populous Midwestern and Southern states get a greater say in the makeup of the Senate than California or New York. And even if they win the majority, Moscow Mitch has already demonstrated that he is willing to use the filibuster to stall the Democrats’ agenda, even if only as Senate Minority Leader. The Democrats really need a supermajority (which they won’t get). Winning Moscow Mitch’s seat in Kentucky may help, but that’s a huge ask.

  9. WHY is there never a mention of the fact that HILLARY won the POPULAR VOTE but TRUMP was installed by the ELECTORAL COLLEGE as President?

    1. Carolyn, so true! Even the dems seem to have trouble believing it. Sometimes I think they find it easier to blame the Greens and other “third” parties for dem problems (“those evil Greens stole our voters!!!!”), that being a “major” party isn’t enough to give them the strength to fight back against their real enemies.

    2. Maybe because for past 250 years the popular vote doesn’t decide who’s President. That would be my guess.

  10. Gen-Z voters are going to turn out in droves based upon gun-law modifications and issues relative to climate change.

  11. I’m not crazy about Biden but I would gladly take him over Trump so everybody needs to vote . I’m really tired of old white man making decisions that do not represent the actual people , Trump made it 10 times wors because he is greedy and has no idea what he is doing.
