Lawrence: Barr Will Have Trouble Explaining Himself Before Congress | The Last Word | MSNBC

In a new interview, Bill Barr seemed to give confusing and almost conflicting details about the Justice Department's involvement in the Roger Stone case. Lawrence O’Donnell argues that Barr will have a difficult time answering questions about that interview when he appears before the House Judiciary Committee. Aired on 02/13/20.

  1. There *was* flexibility in the sentencing recommendation:

Between seven years and nine years.

What Barr means is he wanted it reduced.

    1. Good point. I will add that it has always been up to the judge. Barr is pretending like he’d never heard of sentencing guidelines before.

  2. “When a man assumes a public trust he should consider himself a public property.” Thomas Jefferson

    1. Not for Trump. He owns the USA and he is a businessman and ready to sell America. He is doing it, making money at taxpayers’ expense.

    2. Well, Barr assumes he is Rump’s property so why is it Rump is not paying him because he is not doing the job he was confirmed to do for the American people.

    1. I do feel that way too Laura. It’s completely INSANE what our own public servants are getting away with. All I can do is encourage people to vote them OUT in November. REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER

  3. He’s lying. He just wants Trump to leave him alone so he can fix cases in silence. Trump just blowing his cover is all .

    1. @Bud Tommy You right wingers always deflect and refuse to face the corruption of your political gods. So instead its Obama did this or Hillary did that. We are talking about what Barr is doing-‘which is wrong on every level.

  4. Unfortunately Barr’s credibility has been lost. This was done in concert with Trump et al, to show independence…it’s a sham!

    1. Barr has never had any credibility. He only got the job because he has a record of cleaning things up, so the truth gets hidden. Iran Contra for one example,

    2. @Brian Powell I was giving him benefit from previous assignments. He had a soul at some point in his life…right?

    3. trump knew what Barr was going to say, bc if he did’nt know he would tweeted over 100 messages already. He’s just a liar like trump. My god can we have one day without a drama from the WH, not asking for much just a boring day like before trump annonced he was running.I miss boring.

  5. Barr is a liar. And a bad one. Listen to him “um um um” his way through that interview. He is Trumps crony and toadie morning, noon, and night.

    1. @Nathan Baker Eric Holder stated he was Obama’s wing man. So why can’t Barr be Trumps wing man? Sounds fair to me.

    2. @Nathan Baker Eric Holder stated he was Obama’s wing man. So why can’t Barr be Trumps wing man? Sounds fair to me.

  6. Barr: “Mr. President, when you give me orders on Twitter, everyone else sees that and it makes it hard for me to cover it up.”

    1. @Linda Blunt So it was O.K. for Eric Holder(he so stated) to be Obama’s wing man but Barr cannot be Trumps wing man. Sounds fair to me.

    1. Make sure he gets an Extra-Fat orange jumpsuit!
      – wouldn’t want it EXPLODING and endangering innocent inmates!

  7. Seven to nine years for being convicted on seven out of seven counts carrying a possible total of fifty years sounds lenient to me.

    1. It sure does. Stone was already facing a sweetheart deal of a sentence. Trump just tried to make it sweeter so he wouldn’t have to pardon him. If the original 7 to 9 year sentence is enacted, look for another Trump pardon coming right after the election.

    2. exactly, trump doesn’t want him spilling the beans. I don’t even know why trump is doing it he’s gonna pardon the whole lott of them.

  8. Why didn’t anyone mention Barr’s corruption during the last 2 trials!?

He was directly involved in both!

NOW people are concerned about his double speak!???

    1. Marti Waterman just imagine I’m one of MILLIONS spewing & wasting time ( by the way the last 3yrs have
been wasted & spewing disgraceful nonsense)

    1. Sounds like the mafia bag man that he is, for the head convicted grifter, yes convicted, in both the FAKE TRUMP UNIVERSITY AND FAKE TRUMP CHARITY…WANT TO GET SICK, READ HOW TRUMP REFUSED TO SPEND PROMISED MONEY FOR KIDS WITH CANCER AND INSTEAD BOUGHT A PAINTING OF HIMSELF FOR ONE OF HIS GOLF CLUBS…CONVICTED ON BOTH FAKES…BECAUSE HE, HIS 3 OLDEST SPAWN, AND THE FIRST GOLD DIGGER ARE ALL CRIMINALS, AS WELL AS THE FIRST GOLD DIGGER NOT DOING BEST, AND EXCUSES HER MEAL TICKET FROM BULLYING A TEENAGE GIRL, SHE MUST BE USED TO THAT BY NOW.

    1. He’s a big liar just like his buddy trump.
Bet you knew right off the bat that Michael Avenatti was a liar. On 2nd. thought I bet you were applauding him and agreed with the experts from MSNBC that he run for President.
