How Wildfires And Climate Change Are Connected | Velshi & Ruhle | MSNBC

If you're wondering why these raging wildfires are getting worse and worse by the year, look no further than the climate crisis. Ali Velshi breaks down how the two things are connected. Aired on 10/29/19.

  1. According to tRump & the Repugnant RepubliKKKans climate change is a hoax perpetuated by the Chinese against us. There are certain polluting industries in America that feed this Climate Denial in their own self interest cause its cheaper to just dump the contaminants than to clean up they’re mess.

    1. ran dori : Whose fault is that? America’s not China’s. You owe me money & complain & don’t wanna pay? If I can I will take it out of your hide you ingrate.

    2. ‘Furious’: 1.5 million Californians will have their power turned off Tuesday.. The lights are going out for 1.5 million Californians on Tuesday.. some of them for (5) days or more. Welcome to #demoKKKrat Socialism… just a few steps and the state will be full blown #demoKKKrat Communism.

    3. Rob Donald tRumps illegitimate son : Do not worry about Cali Robbie. Worry about the backward red states like Alabama, Kentucky, Florida unless you are really a ruskie in which case you should mind your own business & worry about Russia & Putin.

    4. @P J nah BJ, we are good here in the Red State of Alabama. No russian #demoKKKrats here either. Life is good! #TRUMP2020 will be a landslide win!!

    1. If overgrowth and dead wood have nothing to do it, then why doesn’t it happen around the country? It only seems to happen (constantly) in California. It’s incredible that such a thing should happen in California since it has been under totalitarian rule by liberal Democrats for decades and we all know that all their ideas are perfect.

  2. Maybe instead of a “Space Force” Maybe we need the creation of a Federal Firefighter Force? Equipped with planes, helicopters, trucks all necessary equipment to fight fires, and of course the Firefighter Troopers.🤔

    1. “Maybe instead of a “Space Force” Maybe we need the creation of a Federal Firefighter Force?”
maybe instead of a “space force”… we need a “space forest.” huh? and then we can have space forest firefighters. how bout that? pretty good, huh?

    1. @Ryan Wilson ,
      No. There wasn’t.
Scientist have been screaming for over 30years, but the media has treated them like they confused and were still debating.
I’m not aware of one peer-reviewed study, ever, that has disputed the science.

    2. Troy J

Yes. There was. If you think the climate change “debate” has only been going on since the 80’s you’re more lost then you led on to be in your first comment.

    3. @Ryan Wilson ,
Oh no. There was never any debate in the scientific community.
*Scientists have been talking about greenhouse gases for almost 200years*
      https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/08/04/scientists-have-been-talking-about-greenhouse-gases-for-almost-two-centuries/

In a 1917 paper, Alexander Graham Bell wrote that the unrestricted burning of fossil fuels, _“would have a sort of greenhouse effect.”_
      https://www.sciencealert.com/alexander-graham-bell-s-prediction-about-the-state-of-the-world-today-is-eerily-accurate

The “debate” and “confusion” was created with misinformation by industries that would lose money…..and the media, if they paid attention to the issue at all, exacerbated that misinformation.

    4. @Alex Ocasio-Gomez ,
I assume the “12years” you are reffering to is the 2nd, 2018 warning from the Union of Concerned Scientists.
That 12 year mark says, if we don’t drastically reduce C02 levels, we will see the worst-case scenario predictions for the 21 Century….that may, or may not include our near-term extinction.
Keep thinking the best & brightest scientist have been wrong for the last half-century. Who are you listening to?

  3. AND (he forgot to finish his final sentence) more and more wildfires continually increase the atmospheric concentration of CO2, which accelerates the warming trend leading to even more wildfires.

  4. 60’s we had 10 years..70’s we had 10 years and a food shortage by 75.80’s came we had 12 years then a DEEP freeze was coming. Then Al Gore. Now AOC. My God.

  5. Cmon guys the solutions is to build islands off the coast of Cali . Build high velocity water turbine inside 1/2 mile high towers that can disperse high velocity water onto the mainland and east into the mountain landscape to the dry areas . And also use these water type towers to spray very long distances into fire flare ups when Cali is on fire. Change the climate the atmosphere and you will not have a dry fire hazard. They know how to do this but they won’t….why? Cmon if we can put satellites in low earth orbit why not deploy satellites or hovering craft over the ocean water that siphon water up 1/2 mile high and spray it onto the fires when needed?

  6. Pakistan replanted a few billion trees over the last decade. Quite commendable. I hope the rest of the world follows this example. Not for oxygen, but because trees cool down the earths crust. Trees are actually cooling pumps as they transpire more than 200 liters of water a day, cooling the soil and slowing down greenhouse effects.

  7. In the seventies the left was screaming ” Ice Age”
    The eighties brought “Global warming”
And now it’s called “Climate change” in the event temps go either way they are covered.
And to think it’s being proven that the hole in the Ozone is shrinking. Why? Bc God’s Earth was designed to take care of herself and support human life.

  8. let me inform you. every exploding wildfire has been exactly where EQs & magma is flowing under ground. fault lines & fracking drill points are involved. NOT PGE

    1. YOU are fake news. The last set of wildfires was PG&E, same explosions heard before the blazes in each instance. This is solidly PG&E’s fault.

  9. Should be “How wildfires and PG&E are connected.” Fake news, people heard explosions near the start of every fire. Could be the sound of transformers blowing?

  10. I always learn something when Ali Velshi talks. This man is a wealth of information. Happy belated Birthday by the way Ali.

  11. VERY BIG PROBLEM METHANE IS A BIG BOMB (PERMAFROST) , every day coming 200.000 new polluters to this planet. Nobody will stop this and oil is used more and more. So take your health insurance cards, possessions, money, credit cards, language skills, diplomas and fancy titles. In 10 till 12 years you can burn it with the rest of this planet
Further to mention: rising water levels, more CO2 makes quality of food production less, climate refugees, war, extreme weather events, extinction of plants and animals (humans), oceans will change in chemical way, burning of our woods, drought, diseases, plagues, earth quakes, pressure in Earth’s crust, maybe rotation of planet, human conflicts about food and water and so on ………….

  12. ‘climate change’ makes it too hot for mexicans to live on their side of the border, the mexicans have to cross over to our side of the border, then said mexicans have to have a cigarette after such a stressful trip, dropping the cigarette starts a fire, thus.. it is the fault of ‘climate change’
