Sometime the chief justice needs to lead the court for the good of the country. SCOTUS as a deliberative body can not appear too partisan or it’s value as the final decider will be diminished. The greatest danger to the supreme court is the appearance of partisanship IMHO.
At the moment, it looks very partisan. The Chief Justice needs to address this.
