Focus group: Some voters see Buttigieg’s sexuality as a ‘barrier’

Why does Mayor Pete Buttigieg have such low poll numbers among black voters? Focus groups conducted by his campaign suggest it might be his sexual orientation. CNN's Michael Smerconish discusses with Johnnie Cordero, the chairman for the Democratic Black Caucus of South Carolina. #CNN #News

  1. I don’t give a damn if he’s gay … he’s not gonna sleep in my bed I just want the right person in the White House

    1. @pacha 79 I respectfully disagree. “he’s not gonna sleep in my bed…” was disrespectful. Just because he’s gay doesn’t mean Pete wants to sleep with every man.

    2. @Thomas Armsworthy Jr me no care… (that’s what your sentence structure sounded like to me) and way to add to the conversation, bud.

  2. Yes, the most imortent thing is ones personal sexuality – not the policies that might make the country better…

  3. for me, it’s just his politics, policy and big-money donors. so pretty much everything besides his sexuality.

  4. The Democrats learned nothing from 2016. Still beating the drum of identity politics going that it will win them elections.

  5. Mayor Pete is deflecting from the fact he told that black woman”he is not asking for her vote” and the sheriff situation and Southbend! Mayor Pete is not polling well with Hispanics or other ethnic group, why dont he state that fact!

  6. We often forget that there yet remains a great deal of traditionalism in our community. I’m supporting who can beat Trump, and we don’t need people staying at home again because they’re not able to vote for the candidate. Many people don’t want to see our president and his husband, and if they’re not ready, then we can’t force them. Pete might be the first gay man to hold the office, but I can assure you, it won’t be next year.
