    1. Well, pollers also know that generally, historically, lower proportions of the young vote. Any reasonably sophisticated algorithm should take it into account. This may be reason why so many polls skew conservative.

One must remember that trump was not a conservative phenomenon in the Republican primaries.

But republicans emotionally value “loyalty” uber alles (there is much psychological research on this – purity is associated with consistent loyalty, start with Haidt et al. the literature is large), and so, once the dunce, the fraud, the criminal WAS chosen through antisocial rage

      (the “tea party” came to fruition, along with rage over perceived racial takeover; the wiser recognition by the 1999 kids concerning the corporatization of the world becoming obvious in NAFTA and TPP-style provisions allowing those entities to sue govts;

      along with that fly-waving -away attitude of citizens toward voting; and even the FACT that marijuana use is correlated with increased paranoia and schizophrenic ideation;
       – not to mention false propaganda intentionally overarousing large numbers of the blindly eusocial via facebook etc. caused so many to fall further into the ideation of destroy others – trump’s essential motivator for very simple psychological reasons (the brain functions through emotional salience of experiences),
ALL these, and the long-understood propagandistic techniques honed by Putin’s KGB (I know it was GRU and perhaps FSB, but do not believe that the agencies did not share useful strategies and tactics), that turned the US voters just enough .
Remember that US campaign strategists have LONG understood that “swing” states are to be particularly targeted, as well as that targeted emotional suppression/enhancement pushes undesirable voters to avoid voting. There is far more to this than those who don’t bother to understand can grasp.

Almost all these variables have been well known by electoral strategists. It IS theri stock-in-trade.
Even polling itself causes individuals to cower within the group most perceived as holding power or powerful. This last issue does NOT skew toward progressive, which is always associated with the poor and dispossessed.

What is most astonishing is that ANY wealthy strongly support ANY progressive value.

I am watching collapsing ecosystems, overexploited living communities, all teh organisms targeted by humans as “possibly lucrative to exploit”, or in the way of exploitation.

This psychopathy, all-too-inherent in us, has/will cause[d] slow catastrophe, yes, as the self-absorbed young are worried concerning THEIR future loss.

My concern, though, is the actual vulnerable who have no direct advocates (or more accurately, few – something less that 3% of us), and have no voice – only disappear as we humans squabble over human ingroup advantages.

trump and republicans are my polar opposites, and even most dems and progressives only include their human Ayn Randians.

    2. @Real Talk76 True the “universe” selected by MANY famed polls is limited to a single state (Kentucky went 73% for the corrupt crook). Regions also show bias.
Some self-selection occurs in acceptance of answering polls.
Significant biasing variables do not evenly “cancel out” toward an unbiased mean.
Exit polling is biased by deceit due to social shame.

Only actual votes made count effectively, AND a HUGE proportion of those emoting may never vote at all.I SAW this in Hispanic and Indigenous friends – highly emotional/NO voting.

    3. Deborah Freedman the sample was from registered voters. Otherwise how did they get results for Republicans and Independents.

    1. @Alex Phillips Yeah, if Dems were brainwashed, and it wasn’t Republicunts, and if the Truth wasn’t already there, and if you idiots weren’t still denying the truth, and if Trump was actually winning in any way shape or form. Since none of that is the case, no, that shouldn’t be the headlines.

    2. @leicanoct No, because they’re doing it for corporate bias towards Biden, who will never win, and not based on race.

    1. It’s not, the impeachment hearings weren’t nothing special. Boring. I’m kinda hoping it gets past the house just so I can hear Adam schiff testify in the senate.

    2. @Deborah Freedman no it wasn’t Deborah lol. Everyone knows the electoral college is what wins… even fake news outlets like msnbc

  1. Why should a poll matter? This is insane. A law is a law. We are a country of laws. If the guy down the street kills his wife should he not be prosecuted because 8 out of ten people like the guy? This show is dumber than a bucket of nails.

    1. It’s not the show, it’s the obligate and near-eusocial traits of the human social primate.
We seek social status and the securities of such status.
Law is made to hold large communities together with as little strife as possible. THe laws of the USA have NEVER been applied in egalitarian or consistent manner; and further, humans respond most to perceived threats, real or imagined.
A fast-increasing population (more than doubling in a moderate lifetime, with increases in mobility and social signaling such as visual media massively magnifying that perception) magnifies social threat perception.

THe evolutionary reasons are becoming well-known, if too complex to bother explaining – social carrying capacity of any species is sensorily/cognitively built-in.

Humans have a particular density or local number at which they begin to socially fragment and break into easily violently escalating groups. This was known quantitatively by a couple decades ago.
Law , sometimes draconian, as Hammurabi’s , was an attempt to deal with this, as exterior human sources of lowered survival had proliferated once humans had saturated the most viable habitats.

Law is breaking down because of the flaws retained by the more psychopathic, who tend to rise in most cultures, and ALL noncommunal cultures. This breakdown is precisely because laws had NOT been historically applied against the socially powerful, instead only the weak, those without any power to attract protections.

Those who believe in law must accept the constant edging into corruption, preventing it BEFORE it allows high status for those who are corrupt.
Tribal cultures rejected the psychopathic, the socipathic, ejecting of physically ending them. Our outrage (at least mine) with trump is an example of normal perception in our kind. We want him removed. Those who want to retain him believe that they will retain of increase social position, securing it through his presence and vile choices.
There is some unequally applied morality to which they may adhere, but as you see, law has no effect. Barr, for example, twists law into a weapon for his purposes.

He, too, must be removed utterly, and law must be more equally applied than it has ever been in this society, to prevent repeat, repeat, repeat.

    2. Real Talk76 Oh I forgot.. Because the LEFT and FAKE NEWS said so huh? Baaaaa Ba BAAAAAA Baa Ba. There. Now you can understand it better.

    3. Paul Wolff You are right, theorically. But Republican senators will follow the polls. If they feel public opinion is massively against trump, they will dig for their integrity. But without solid evidence, and a divided nation, I doubt they vote the impeachment. It’s obvious that he did it, but we need to prove it, hearsay is not enough.

    1. I’ve never been polled and don’t know anyone who has. They tend to call people with landlines and folks that don’t screen their calls.

    2. Agree! I also believe they only poll folks with landlines, and that’s mostly older people. If they could poll via cell phones or the internet, I’m sure that number would be much different!

    1. That’s because most don’t know how their government even works. Some are too ignorant too pay attention. This country is doomed!

    2. just tell them trump has plans to make putin the vice president in his next term.
his supporters don’t even understand that our democracy is at stake. and their votes will never count again.

    3. mctielpresidente Yet it’s you DEMTARDS who want to pick and choose what parts of the constitution you like or don’t.. hahaha

    1. Kim N Hmmmm so the point of throwing “veteran” in the comment is for what? I’m a veteran also, what does that have to do with your FAKE comment on impeachment?

    1. @Don Williams No, that’d still be a Republican. Dems will be the most patriotic party, since we’re currently fighting to save the country from your corruption.

    2. @Alex Phillips In a few weeks, you’ll be poof, and likely wait a year or two before showing your face again out of embarrassment, because currently being a republicans is basically being the KKK, and in a few weeks, not even the KKK will wanna be republican. What we are witnessing is an end, but you’re blind if you can’t tell it’s the end of the Republican party, and not in any way an end for the left.

    3. @Don Williams I’d rather be an American than a republican….why are you pretending to be a country singing star???faker.

    1. I have a landline which rings off the hook – because no identification of the many varied numbers occur, and because when answered there is a lull of several seconds showing that they are robocalls, I’ve no doubt missed several polls.
Those using smartphones may also auto-reject such robocalls and polling.

  2. “All these Republicans complaining about Hunter Biden serving on the board of Burisma, when we have Jared and Ivanka sitting in the West Wing, doing what, exactly?” NYT reader comment, 27. Nov.

    1. Steven Hanft Well for 1..NOT GETTTING A DIME TO BE THERE. Just Like the POTUS. Guess if they got $83k a month, you clowns would be OK with it.

    2. @Don Williams They are not getting a salary but they are living on the tax payers dime when it comes to travel and living expenses where they get to use their contacts for their hotel , resorts, office building and investment businesses. Ivanka and Kushner for example made over 100 million last year.

    3. @Don Williams “tRump is president only because a constitutional provision invalidated the choice of the American people. Trump lost the popular vote and might have lost the Electoral College without Russian interference, and yet many Democrats and pundits have been bullied into accepting the fiction that he has democratic, and not just constitutional, legitimacy.” Michelle Goldberg, NYT Editorial, 26. Nov.

    1. Over 20% of females have experienced assault before adulthood. There are other outrageously distressing stats. Yet, more than 1/2 of all Euroamerican females still support trump.

The mind seek social power as protective. This social primate trait has not been shaken.

Evaluation by a self, for example based upon one’s skin melanin content, is quite accurate – trump and republicans trend toward European descent, and those with greatest wealth prospects also (from rappers to Asian capitalists) all fall in line behind/among.

The situation requires clarity by those who either care for equality or have been long oppressed. I am not confident of sufficient clarity for among other reasons, the following:

Wealth attracts, power attracts. there will be defectors, just as there are moderate and high-risk gamblers.

Eurofemales will tend to remain trumpist, so long as they feel, erroneously, that male figureheads/deities will protect them.

(Long ago, I noticed the stronger integrity of Lesbian females. This phenomenon attracts the facultative lesbianism of many heterosexual F’s, One may not trust those who follow security, but that trait is almost ubiquitous, causing odd temporary clusterings – you see this in game theory modeling, and that mathematical discipline tends to reflect social realities rather well.

I would suggest that stronger game theory algorithms be applied instead of mere polling for any predictive purposes, although continuing novel variables appear in realty of this huge population)
