    1. @Jeff Goddin Plato’s republica was against a democracy for a city/nation state not for it in any sense of the word regardless.???????????

    2. @Jeff Goddin what are you talking about Socrates abhorred democracy also.
It is not six of one and half a dozen of the other.
He wasn’t protecting his followers or Athens democracy specifically – that was the whole point- he had been born because of his parents union and educated and had the benefit of the society, he benefited(whatever form of society: monarchy, oligarchy- he was raised with no obligation to stay so he has a social contract upon staying to abide regardless) – so who was he to go against a judgement of the society no matter as an individual he thought it unfair, even if resulting in his own death.
Now we would disagree with that because where would that leave a place for civil protest (civil rights marches would be wrong) and the right to protest against government?????? Nowhere. How do we affect change?
It seems you are trying to shoe horn classic antiquitie philosophy to fit a narrative that these classic thinkers, despite the differences to the modeen world would have been flag bearers for US democracy as opposed to other modern forms of government.

    3. @Jeff Goddin why do you keep saying he was protecting his followers- or supported Democracy it was neither.

    4. @Philip Merewood My feelings about Plato are strong but vague perhaps after so many years. I read a lot of books outside the curriculum in HS. My recollection is that Socrates was cast as a rabble rouser disturbing the peace with radical ideas, and obviously the Socratic method (the OP’s point) and chose to sacrifice himself rather than have the wrath of the elite punish not just him but those who had gathered into his school. Is that wrong? And the basic form of democracy back then was grabbing a bunch of people in the agora and forcing them to be a deliberative body whenever a touchy decision needed to be made. And when they decided that Socrates should die, he went along. So, not opposing democracy… Most intellectuals oppose many decisions made in a democracy, but I think they agree at the same time, what better option is there? Benevolent dictatorship maybe, but no way to guarantee benevolence…

    1. Giuliani was a NYC prosecutor to put many NYC mafia bosses to jail and closed all 42th street dirty businesses. Trump needs him to drain the swamp. Giuliani doesn’t work for government therefore Schiff must find something to subpoena him. It may be spectacular to watch Giuliani talking with Democrat congressmen.

    2. @VanGiai Do
No, Giuliani doesn’t work for the government, which is why his interference in foreign policy was so unacceptable.

    1. He’s a court jester. He even smiles as he yells. The Acting Smirker-in-Chief Jordan is a bottom feeder. To be clear.

  1. Now Lindsey Graham is saying that he doesn’t even want to look at the evidence because he doesn’t want anything to interfere with his cognitive dissonance.

    1. David V actually the circus is what is going on behind closed doors. Now we know the “whistleblower’s” own attorney was on Twitter calling for a coup.🤦‍♂️ Dems are the fascist clowns.

    2. @Sonny Bluff You know NOTHING. Just saying that does not make it true. The more you insist on your fantasy the more pathetic you come off. “Let’s go to the video?” What video and where is it, cowboy? If your story was true it would be on television already.

    1. @Trump News
Just disagreeing with you is not actually corruption. Your partisan name-calling is rather juvenile.

    2. the swamp trump wanted to drain was in the Ukraine ,not in Washington , your bad since you did not ask for details .

    1. There is a minority among Americans who think having a cartoon character in the White House is just wonderful. Then we have the majority who are sick and tired of the fetid tripe pouring out continuously from that bloviating blockhead.

  2. Scariest thought ever:

Imagine all the sheit Trump is getting away with that we have no idea about and the danger he is putting the country in.

    1. People are dying… our allies are dying… Ukrainians and Kurds… have died because of his irrational behavior!
Iranians are dying because medication is being withheld due to pulling out of the deal… Iran is refining weapons grade uranium again… just what the world needs… children are still in chain-linked cages alone, terrified, and taking care of each other… because? When will it stop? To the Republicans on the Hill… the solution is simple, the Cesar solution, the Ides of March… Et tu Lindsay?

    2. Britain is talking about the same thing going on in their country and Boris. I just watched Rachel Maddow reporting on that. Putin is trying to put all the countries in chaos while he scoops up lost business from them.

    3. Richard Partin
We all know it happened in Britain first. It’s up to the Brits to do something about it, vote.

  3. President Trump’s Agenda Is Russia’s Agenda. A Vote For Trump Is A Vote For His VP.. V.Putin.

    1. In 2012 russia had a agenda also thay desperately needid military grade uranium but whar could thay possibley git hm from how you no the Olney thing you can use military grade for is to arm nuclear weapons and you think turmp did something worng amazing turmp win are you going to lock up these traders up for treason against AMERICA obama Hillary and Muller sold military grade uranium to Russia you ignorant donkey turmp 2020baby

    2. Darrin Myers when you learn to speak English… maybe you will be able to understand that the so called uranium deal… was not weapon grade! And was sanctioned by the entire Uranium Commission… and only after that… was the sale approved by the then Secretary Clinton… she did not broker the deal! Truth to power!

  4. The 3 amigos, Ya right. More like the 3 stooges, but, with a twist of evilness. At least the 3 amigos in the movie had a plan and accomplished it. 🤦.

    1. It’s most likely we will have to vote him out of office because the Republican-controlled Senate is too corrupt.

    2. The return policy is universal. Its called the next election. Its why we have elections as frequent as we do.. Impeachment is a tool to get info, elections is for changes in the presidency

    3. @Troubled Sole 4 Republican votes during his Senate Trial, and he won’t get a 2nd election at all. He would be _disqualified_ from holding office again
20 Republican votes for _removal_ , which won’t happen, but _disqualification_ is very, very doable. Simple majority is all that’s necessary

    1. GOP is a danger to America’s security. You should see how Putin meddles in European elections. Brexit? NATO?

  5. When they have public hearings, what will the Republicans whine about now? Actually defending trump’s actions seems to be out of the question.

    1. You don’t know the drama queens that well do you? Jim Jordan and Lindsey Graham and that recent phenomenon hayseed from Louisiana.
